Minor Spoiler I guess, but in Sapphire, Emerald and Alpha Sapphire, Archie's Sharepdo DOES NOT at any time know ANY water Attacks. Crazy right?

You'd think Maxie's new 'stereotypical smart guy' look would make him realise that he needs an ace Pokemon which can't be utterly wiped by his rival's ace Pokemon. Then again, this is a guy who tried to make a volcano erupt by dumping fuel into it. Also, Archie's expression is just perfect, made me smile so much.

And if those blunders weren't bad enough, the icing on the cake is in how Maxie chooses the BLUE Orb at Mount Pyre to try and control Groudon. Groudon is clearly red, Maxie's whole team's motif is RED, why on earth pick the blue one!? No wonder he needed glasses haha!

I must say, Maxie's looking like an old guy in his new artwork. it looks like they added a good ten years to his age with those facial wrinkles. Might just be me though...

He looks very pale in contrast to Archie's tan too! In combination with the glasses he looks like a much more intellectual character who spends much time researching on a computer in a dark room haha. He looks very serious too!
And yeah, I mean at least Archie is an actual name. Maxie just seems like an odd portmanteau of Magma and... who knows!

Pfft, now I can't stop imagining Maxie looming over his computer at one in the morning with ever light off except the computer's blue light with a look of seriousness on his face. Probably how he gained those wrinkles, too.
I know! Maxie is like a shortening of Maxamillion or whatever just adding the -ixe to make it rhyme with Archie. Team Aqua probably made up that nickname just to insult Team Magma and it just stuck.
I like Maxie a lot too, actually. It's just that Team Aqua has always been the team I've faced so I tend to make fun of him more than Archie the pirate-man. (I've owned Sapphire and plan to get Alpha Sapphire to see how far it's come.)

This is why I feel Team Aqua is actually more successful whenever these two teams fight. Magma uses too many Fire/Ground-types against a team who uses Water-types.
