At first, I was excited that Shulk was in Smash
Then I realized he was now more susceptible to gross fanart/fanfics because Smash is popular (And he got hit HARD)

I so hope Shulk makes it in. Leak or no leak, Shulk still has a chance. Smash rosters tend to select fighters based on popularity in the Japanese audience. This is the most likely explanation as to how Jigglypuff has been in all three games so far (though Jiggs has been losing relevance as of late, but we'll see). There are some exceptions to this rule (Little Mac is a huge example, as I read that the Japanese audience wasn't that excited about his reveal compared to the rest of the world, and Sonic is another example of this exception). This is probably why Lucina got in (FE is popular in Japan anyway and Lucina is the most popular character in the game).
What does this have to do with Shulk? Shulk is REALLY popular in Japan and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people in Japan requested him.

What better way to spread popularity of a character by putting them in smash? It becomes a self-fulfilling action.
Many people would have no idea about Fire Emblem characters if they had not been in the earlier smash games.

Shulk has a LOT going for him to even be in the game, playable or assist trophy.
-There's Monolith's retweet of the announcement last week, and the fact that they even did it at all shows that Monolith had some involvement in SSB4.
-Shulk's English VA said he's doing some voice work for some "exciting games this year" (and humorously said that he should keep quiet or get his balls chopped off)
-And today's screenshot of the day show's Robin's Down-B, Nosferatu. Sakurai states that Nosferatu is stronger when hitting the opponent from behind. And since a LOT of Xenoblade's arts have properties if the enemy is hit from the side or behind, etc. We could be looking at a potential moveset for Shulk in which the position of himself and the opponent matters. (of course, position is irrelevant if all his specials are his Monado arts)

Of course there was another rumor. Someone on Gamefaqs played the game at Best Buy and claimed that they found a Mechon trophy in Smash Run. However, that has yet to be proven. And yes, this is in vain of the same rumor that Chunky Kong was found in some capacity but that also has yet to be proven. Fortunately, I think there's a second chance to find one because the E3 build is available for play at Comic Con.

Actually I'm not a Xenoblade fan, having never played Xenoblade Chronicles (Though I do wish to if I can FIND it). I find it a good idea to put Shulk in, mostly to get more people into Xenoblade Chronicles and get people hyped for Xenoblade Chronicles X. Also, I am so glad the Gematsu leak is a sham, so people can FINALLY shut up about it!

Doubt it highly.Β Also, Chrom's just in Robin's final Smash.Β However, there's a chance that Lucina could have a reskin with Chrom... Seeing as they use the same fighting style.
As for Shulk.Β I really doubt it because he's not an icon, and not technically a Nintendo licensed character.

Well, Shulk is first party, and with Xenoblade X coming out Xenoblade is the only first party Nintendo series not to have a rep in Smash Bros, so I wouldn't count him out just yet. I mean, I can't have any expectations as for Shulk getting in Smash just in case my heart gets crushed and he's not in, but I really REALLY hope he is in.

I am actually really happy with this reveal, Β I had been hoping for all 4 of these characters and never thought they would ALL get in
