I have a headcanon that as long as she believes in Meyneth, she will continue to live normally, but she doesn't know this.

Part of me would have loved to see that actually included as a mechanic in the game. Essentially, the plot would diverge depending on how long you take to complete the final battle. Take too long, and Fiora dies, resulting in a different, darker storyline (and a different, more bittersweet ending).
Then again, that might encourage some Shulk × Melia shippers to intentionally take too long...
