Description
Lightning Bug Ponies are a closed species by me and may not be created, designed, and/or distributed without my explicit written permission.
That said, here they are! Sorry for my awful handwriting, here's what it says:

• They stand no taller than 4 in. tall (at adulthood).

• Their fireflies develop with them in the womb, starting as larvae, and light up at birth.

• Fireflies do not go out until death.

• In very rare cases, one pony may have up to 3 fireflies.

• The color and fluctuation of the light given off by the firefly reflect the pony's mood and health.

• Fireflies cannot leave their pony. They are surrounded by a magical orb; the strength of the orb walls can differ depending on the individual pony.

• Unicorns generally have stronger orbs.

• Due to their small size, mares can only have up to 3 foals maximum in their lifetime (sets of twins are excluded).

• Stallions' fireflies "sing" as a sort of mating call to [a mare or mares that the stallion may be attracted to] during the mating season.

• Their ears are exceptionally large; being so small, they have to be able to hear any possible danger coming in advance.

• Their coats are very fluffy to keep their small bodies warm.

Butterwings

Alicorns don't exist among LBP's. There is, however, a genetic mutation called Butterwings, which have the attributes of both a Pegasus and a unicorn. However, they can only use one of these strengths. For instance, a Butterwing that flies will have a rather nubby horn and no magical ability, while a magically proficient one will have stunted wings and lack the ability to fly.

Butterwings are very rare; flying types are more common.

I may update and tweak this as time goes on! For now I'll start designing a few to get the species off to a start.
