Ok before I'm attacked THIS IS NOT SLASH! If you wish to interpret it that way then be my guest, but I did not draw it with any romantic intentions!

There now that that's out of the way.

Meet Ben(human) and Twigleg(Homunculus) my two favorite characters from the book Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke.
For those not in the know Twigleg is a Homunculus, a creature made by man of flesh and blood. He was a spy for Nettlebrand(dragon?), the books antagonist, and at one point joins up with the main group as a man on the inside. However, Twigleg and Ben begin to form a bond and soon Twigleg finds that he cares for the boy far to much to let Nettlebrand eat him.

The friendship these two share is absolutely beautiful. Ben was apparently the first person to ever be truly nice to Twigleg, and defended him when one of the other characters would torment him. Twigleg him self risked quite a bit trying to protect Ben from his bloodthirsty master.

In the book Twigleg had a habit of falling asleep on Ben, which I thought was adorable. So I just had to draw a sleeping Twigleg enveloped in the warm embrace of a contented Ben. Once again, no romantic intentions.
I'm not sure when exactly this scene would take place. Ether after Twiglegs confession (Not THAT kind of confession) or at the end of the book.

The lyrics are from Heaven, written by Bryan Adams [link] and remixed by DJ Sammy [link] I was listening to the DJ Sammy version on repeat while drawing this so obviously the picture was slightly influenced by the lyrics. Still the romantic inclinations were far from my mind at the time. I just thought it was cute.
