Description Just foxes. Using a phone booth.
This piece goes out to all those students who left their homes to do what they have to do while being so far away from their loved ones and homeland: call home sometimes.
And yes. The Alpha's talking into a phone while on another fox; your eyes aren't deceiving you.

Thank you very much! It began as a study application piece but I wanted to add some story. So this happened.

Hi. Found this at ProjectComment

This art is both parts funny and bizarre.
The foxes in the booth make me think of those cartoons where some animal characters are on a heist and are doing all these crazy things just to complete the mission. For this scene I imagine it being either the fox pup lies too much, or that it cries too much, and the other two are just tired of him. Just clever way of setting the message with the sign on the booth.

You stuck close with the anatomy of the foxes of course with slight differences, such as the expressions, human behavior, and my golly that teeny-tiny head on that one fox!!
The colors of the foxes are nice and warm as well as the light source being spreading out and fading is a good detail.
For critiquing I say work more on the background as its slightly questionable. Like is it raining or is it a regular night??
Β
I wonder what you intended when you made the grass and the sky blur together like that. It looks sloppy due to the lack of highlights and certain detail on the grass. Like for the ground it looks okay, until one's eyes look at the back area. To me this picture has clear detailing with the brushwork such as the foxes, the telephone, the booth, the light, the sign, and then my eyes drop to the background and it doesn't fit. If the whole picture were more simplistic then the background would fit, but not in this case. (Did you do to make it seem more dreamy and as they were underwater maybe?? A lot of us can tell this isn't your everyday realistic fox moment, so I'm wondering if its on purpose.) Β
Perhaps you could use more range of green colors and tones to bring it out more.Β  Β

I think that's all for me. Nothing much else I find that looks like it needs adjusting. Tell me what you meant by it and whatnot.
Have a nice day! Β

Thank you for viewing and leaving a comment! About the background, honestly speaking, I didn't give it enough attention. I have been working on this piece exclusively for most of January, which might be because I was fearing and in self-doubt. I had to finish it before I fell further into self-doubt.

Thank you for your concern nonetheless! I'm feeling alright now. Next time I'll try to balance my time with other projects to I won't stress out too much on one thing (hopefully).

On the topic of that self doubt, on the very last day of working on the piece, I felt happier for the progress of the piece - it seemed to myself that I had been procrastinating all along. It's a part of artmaking so I'm sure to get it under control!

Cheers and have a good day!

It happens to the best of us, mate. Β
But it's usually better to just toss it out into the wild and see what happens. I did a piece not too long ago where I like "ehh I don't know, does it need more fixing??" Turns out it did but I couldn't tell by myself.Β
Also I don't pay too much attention to BGs either, I just don't like drawing them. :vΒ

Have a good day too.

There is a lot of parodic things going on here. It is extremely whimisical and each time you look at it, you notice something new. Like that beefy fox at he bottom who has an extremely tiny head and is giving me a lewd look and the small fox that looks rather worried. I love how the environment looks so dark and serious but the main focus is just so silly it leaves a great contrast.

Although I do have one concern, the fox that's being the stool* 's head looks a bit too small for its body and just really sticks out because of it.

very cute! But, the bottom fox in the phone booth either has a really tiny head or there's a miniature poster in there. Unless the glass is tricky, then it looks a bit too well shaped. Otherwise, really nice piece. The poster was a great touch!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

waltervan00 In reply to VenomQuill [2017-02-05 02:51:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot! It's genetically mutated. Nah just kidding. I know that it doesn't fit the common notion about foxes, but I just can't justify a slender structure holding up under the full weight of another one. About the poster, I asked a community I'm in for what ad to put up - cause ads are everywhere these days. They said, 'Vermin control.'
