Lately I have been reflecting on my past work and it has bring up a lot of frustration. I don't really know what I like anymore, if I really did my best or if I enjoyed it...I have come to a point where I need to question a lot of things and try to heal my relationship with my art. It's weird because I don't know where I want to go or stand. But I will see (:

I just love your way of capturing not only a face but the whole character.
And this "unfinished" look is stunning... I am not sure how to express it but i really like the way it shows your stroke. It gives it so much more character than a perfectly blended in version. This is amazing!
and about your discontent with your work... Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Just try experimenting without expecting everything to work out perfectly well... I feel that if you just let yourself try out different things the results are a lot more satisfying than forcing everything to be like this incredible vision you have in your head... I am not sure whether this is helping at all or whether you are at very different point. However, I wish you enough strength and patience for you to evolve so you can be happy with your work and yourself in general.
You are such an inspiration and outstanding talent! Don't let yourself get in your way

I am so drawn to those eyes
sad, resigned,
it totally shows how you are feeling.
We all go through moments when we doubt ourselves
we change our minds.
It's all a lessons that we have to learn
so we can get to that realisation of what we really want to do
and what makes us happy.
To be as talented an artist as yourself
I have no doubt you will find your true passion

peace is something we all strive for
and yet
at time we feel as it is unattainable.
Only when we age,
do we let up
and stop being so hard on ourselves.
We see the importance of our actions
and realise that everything around us is not a reflection of us.

that its only through loving ourselves

That is such a lovely thing to say,

Luckily for me I have always been overly abundant in patience and calm,
it has helped me understand situations and rectify problems,
other people find hard to deal with.
When I write,
I talk form the heart,
that's the way I have always expressed myself.
We only have our words
but they alone can do so much to help,
when others are feeling lost or alone.
I, like you loved my art,
but drawing or painting for me was not an option,
to me my work was not perfect enough.
See we all can be hard on ourselves at times!
So I changed to something I really loved, photography.
As I have Macula degeneration,
It is important for me to show this world all the beauty that I see,
through my own eyes.
I have no doubt that when you find what you love,
your true passion,
you will see your true potential, like I do
as a great artist

You're a great artist. I hope you can rekindle your love for art. One of the tricks for remotivating yourself is to pick a different subject from what you usually do and portray it in a different medium from what you're comfortable with.

Our tastes change over time as do our likes and dislikes.
Experiment.
Explore new mediums and ways of expressing your art.
But always value what came before as it is what makes you who you are now.

This is so true ! I have actually been trying to gather my thoughts and think of new ways to experiment. I made a list of meduims/concept to try as well as a super list of stuff I shall determine about my preferences & my art.

This is absolutely wonderful, I especially like the contrast between the hair turning sort of "ethereal" or fuzzy on the outlines and the focus of the face. Her eyes are very expressive, they make me think of insomnia.

Nice job with the portrait! I'm in the same situation now, but with a story that I'm currently just brainstorming/writing down ideas for. It's both a writers block and not knowing if I want to continue with it or start over with a new version of the story. But I hope we both find our way of inspiration again! Good luck to you
