I wasted all of today drawing this. T______T I'm sorry. God knows I could do more with my life . . .
I know I say this a lot, but I get new watchers every now and then, so I feel like I have to say it again: I don't hate ALL anime. I just hate 99% of it. XD My biggest beef with it is that all these young artists cling to this style, not realizing that their "style" LOOKS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE'S. It's a debilitating crutch. My outlook has always been this: learn to draw CORRECTLY before you worry about a style. Picasso drew abstract art, yes, but he was an incredible realist painter, too. Once you have a relatively strong grasp of proper anatomy, THEN draw anime. Or find your own style.
And guess what, people? I USED BASES. HAAAAAAAA. That's why that uke-kid-thing's crotch is all screwed up. Who has a crotch like that? Seriously? But I only used bases on the top two and I don't honestly feel good linking you to the bases, considering they were probably traced off of something else.
I HATE SHOTA SO GODDAMN MUCH AAAAARGH FUCK YOU INTERNET AND YOUR SIX-YEAR-OLD LOOKING UKE BOYS GAAAAH.
In conclusion, stop using the dodge/burn tool on skin. I CAN TOTALLY TELL YOU ARE NOT FOOLING ANYONE. Also, if you can't create worthwhile OCs, stick to fanfic. Please. Thank you.

Well, I personally think the anime style is a crutch. But hey, if it keeps you drawing and interested, go with it. I'm not here to tell anyone how to draw. 
Plus, as I was a portrait artist for a year, anime profiles make me angry. XD Because honestly, half of people's key features is their nose. If you eliminate it, than you'll have a hard time making people look unique. :/

Nah, it's okay. If you like drawing it, then go with it. I don't want anyone to stop drawing because they make things look anime. D8 Anime drawing is better than no drawing at all. DX However, I guess real-life references will always be the best. I used to rip fashion ads out of magazines and use them, though now I go to istockphotos.com and get my references there. THey really do help.

I too don't like references most of the time, but sometimes it's a necessary evil. I like when teachers assign me projects I hate, like backgrounds, because if they don't assign it, I'll never do it and then I'll never get any better at it. :/

Luckily we had two separate classes, once for Ceramics and one for Drawing and Painting (which still surprises me, cuz my school was tiny, and yet apparently my roommate from a bigger city school said they just had "art". :/) However, my skills remained mostly untested until college, so maybe you'll have to wait until then . . .? XD
Apparently cuz we hold the Northeast together. YEAH RIGHT. It's not as literal as other state nicknames, like "The Sunshine State" for Florida. DX Yeah right, that's one thing WE wouldn't get. I HATE mainstream!yaoi with passion. That's why if my favourite show has somekind of homosexual-pairing I like, if they look stereotypical uke-seme-pair (meaning majority of the fanbase also pairs them up like that), I switch the roles. Because I love manly ukes. Of course, the seme can also be manly, but uke has to be one. At least not ultra-bishie, and especially NOT one looking like a little girl. Ugh.

Ahaha, I've never read actual yaoi because I've always hated it, and there's no point in torturing myself. XD But I do love slash, and I just hate when people are like, "OMG IMMAH GONNA BE TTLY ORIGINAL!" when in fact their characters are just like everyone else's. :/
Also, I love messing with people's expectations. I adore femme boys, but they always have very dominant personalities, because I write women with very dominant personalities, and it just translates across the gender line. My drag queen is 6'3", loud, obnoxious, and would never be bossed around by his boyfriend, cuz his boyfriend is shy and a total pushover.
