Description This species in the US is harmless unlike the Australian variety.
 Funnel Weavers (Agelenidae)
All the girls are out when the sun is shining.  They don't like it too much when it's windy and stay in their tunnels when it is.  This day, however, was wind free and sunny.  They all like this one seem to be quite ripe.  Look at her abdomen.  She is gravid and getting ready to birth next years crop.

There's a hundred of these ladies living in the bushes throughout our neighborhood. Love to see them on bug patrol.

Always irritated me when people erroneously said they were harmful to humans.

They're all over my property.  I even have one camped out under the AC on my widow sill in my bedroom.  I respect her space as long as she respects mine...

Yeah, respect of space is important. An encouraging "shoo" helps from time to time.

I think maybe twice I have blown on her to keep her away from dropping down to my bed.  That's generally about as hands on as I will get.  Males and other species tho are another matter.  They tend to roam more and I don't like the idea of being crawled across in my sleep!  lol!

And not the kind of "shoe" on your feet, either.
