I frikin love this game, but it sure ain't for the bosses. Hoo boy, you know they're jumping the shark on robot master concepts when they have to resort to something like, oh, I dunno, STEREOTYPES!! Some of these guys weren't even worth the trouble to kill to get their stupid weapon, you can just ask the jarhead with the buck teeth, second to bottom. ...Okay, I have to admit that although the special weapons were nothing spectacular, some were pretty decent such as TomahawkMan's flying axe, the pointyball from KnightMan, and even FlameMan's volcanic spitball, because those puppies go at ANGLES. You know, something besides moving straight ahead just like the weapon you start with. But even that's not the reason why this game is awesome. Let's face it, the premise sucks, the story sucks, most of the weapons suck, and the bosses suck. So what could possibly compensate for so much suck?? Well I can sum up the answer for you in two simple words: JET PACK. HECK YES, MEGAMAN CAN FLY IN THIS ONE. YEEEEEEAH!! Seriously, it took long enough for Dr. Light to come up with that, don't you think?!_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Ever since the beginning of the end of the 8-bit era, Capcom has made one attempt after another to give their mascot a new coat of paint, but for some reason, none of them could even come close to being as good as the original NES titles. It seems like you can't have a good Mega Man game without having a bunch of bug-eyed, big-headed, stubby-handed little people frolicking all over the place... and are actually able to outrun freaking bullets! ...with their BUTTS. It's so dorky and it completely defies the laws of physics, and yet that's what makes the series so awesome somehow. The better reason they went back to that style in 9 and 10. I would pretty much desribe it along the lines of dorkily awesome and awesomely dorky.
Anyways, I kind of got an idea for this thing after I saw some videos for Mega Man Universe. What they're essentially doing is basically sucking out all the "squareness" while retaining the 8-bit feel from the glory days. I'm kind of doing that here too, but I'm more leaned towards a full blown 2-D standpoint rather than 2.5-D. It's a style I like to call β-bit. It's like a version of 8-bit that shows about as much detail as a bunch of tiles could, but has a much smoother way of doing so by far.
Knock yourself out.
Disclaimer just to be safe: Characters belong to Capcom blah blah blah. That should be pretty obvious.

You know when it comes to hated robot masters in MegaMan 6, Plant Man is always the obvious answer, sure his design is stupid and has REALLY easy fight I actually like Plant Man, his stage was cool, you get the Jet Adapter from defeating him, and his weapon the Plant Barrier is actually pretty useful. But do you wanna know who is my least favorite robot master from the sixth game is?

Wind Man. Everything about him is extremely BLAND! His design is super generic, he's basically Air Man with 2 little fans instead of one big fan. His stage is also really forgetful, all I remember are the panda enemies, the rotating platforms and the fans, everything else is forgettable, his fight is also extremely easy: he shoots two blades at you, float towards you, and try to suck you in, that's it! And finally his weapon: The Wind Storm, a tornado that travels along the ground. It takes out enemies on the ground pretty good, yes, but the problem is they don't leave behind health or weapon energy. Seriously compared to the other Wind based robot master, the one that's named after those is ironically the worst

OY! Even though 3 was my favorite in the series, 6 comes pretty high! and they aren't stereotypes, they reflect the culture of which country they came from. Gaijin Goombah explains this pretty well. here's a link to his part 1 of mega man 6:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFENe3β¦

Does anyone else get the feeling that whenever you turn off the game, Megaman and the Robot Masters are having a pizza or something (having a grand old timeΒ basically) together or something? because I do. BTW, nice drawings!

Wily got lazy in 6. (Hijacking robots again instead of building his own, putting on a RIDICULOUS disguise instead of making another patsy, then not having an escape plan and ending up in jail!)

Admittedly Yamatoman is actually one of my favourite robot masters.

MM6's weapons were still more fun to use than MM5's weapons.

Well I do have to give it that. 5 had some pretty lame weapons like the power stone, the napalm bomb, and the charge kick. (though that last one has a little more potential to be useful from what I've seen. [link] ) Even the gyro attack is tricky to use well because it has to go upwards manually. I don't get that kind of distraction from the silver tomahawk in 6, because that baby flies upward by itself. Not as good as the magnet missile, but I can nail pretty much any airborn target once I get the projectile's flight path down. And if all else fails, I go centaur flash on their ass.

I'm still wondering to this day how WindMan's a stereotype for China...
(I'm all for β-bit games, though!)

I guess it's because a bunch of things in his design sort of look like chinese-style bowls and pots. Stuff like his hat, jet thrusters, etc.

I still can't figure out it that dot in the middle of his face is supposed to be his mouth or his nose... or a zit.

You've handled the Mega Man 6 roster quite well here! I would have thought that Plant Man and his 7 colours would have given you trouble but it looks like you coped fine!
My favourite here would have to be Centaur Man, purely because of his 'I don't fuck around bro' scowl!
I wonder how you will handle 7, 8 and Bass.

Cooljobsrule had an idea that I could just revamp the sprites from the 7FC and 8FC titles instead of their original 16/32-bit stuff, so I'll be sticking with 8-bit for 7 and 8. As for the rest, I'm not sure if they've made an FC version of & Bass yet, so I'm still thinking that over...
