Wow, that's an awesome painting, for what you had to work with. I'd like to see you try your hands at a more advanced program,I'm sure you'd knock everyone's socks off. There is a good program that's free, called Gimp, you can get it at gimp.org and its considered by alot to be nearly as good as Photoshop.
