Last night I decided to do something I hadn't before. Draw Jack and Miko without restricting myself to trying to make them look like they do in Transformers Prime. Yes, as sad as it is, all the drawings I've done before this one are my crappy attempts at doing the Transformers Prime style, at least somewhat, in 2D. Now, doing it justice in 2D is obviously an impossibility and that only gets hindered even more by my crappy cartooniness I naturally put into all the stuff I do. So by and large most of the Jack and Miko pictures I've done drawing-wise are crap to me.

So I thought last night "Screw it! I'm drawing them without trying to do em as Transformers Prime characters!"

And the result...well I still think it's pretty bad coloring. I'll probably never be good at that. BUT I am so relieved that I didn't try and make them look like how they do in the show. Transformers Prime has to have the most boring animated humans in the franchise animation-wise. I mean yes, Miko's pigtails are fun to bounce up and down. Obviously the animators love working with her. But they're all so...stiff. And while this is true in part for MOST, not all, but most 3D cartoons, it's especially true for Prime, mainly in the expressions department. I was so happy to actually make cheek-lines and everything in this.

Just...felt like I needed to do it.
