Well the formula for fan reactions this season has been pretty standard. It's either "oh my god best episode yet!" or "oh my god, that sucked!" or "eh, not as good as past seasons.". The main reason I've had problems so far is that NONE of the villains that return have been able to, you know, stay evil. And I know "they aren't really evil-" shut up. I got that. Doesn't mean I can't be disappointed when THE SPIRIT OF CHAOS DECIDES TO USE HIS MAGIC FOR GOOD or when The Great and Powerful Trixie decides to apologize and everyone acts like everything's fine despite her being a jackass no matter what.I will say that the latest episode, Just for Sidekicks, was pretty nice overall...except for one major complaint I had. Yes, Celestia has been a bit...morally ambiguous at times it seems, but Spike SAVED THE GOD DAMN CRYSTAL EMPIRE! And who gets invited back? The ponies...all of which, except for Twilight, just tended to the carnival that was going on...

I understand that Spike not being invited to the Pony Games was unfair, but, I'm sure, they weren't doing it to be mean, there was probably not enough room or something.

discord will always be evil to me... I don't know how they can change a GOD of chaos to be good...
and in my opinion, I don't like the new episodes as much. I think they could be better then they were...
not that I don't like them at all... they're just "meh".

As far as we know, the Equestria Games haven't taken place yet. The mane six were commissioned to convince the Games Inspector to let the Crystal Empire play host, so Spike will probably be invited when the Games actually start.
As for Discord, well, he's the Spirit of Chaos ... not the Evil Spirit of Chaos. Chaos is not good or evil, it's just chaos. Discord's allegiances are still ambiguous.

Spike is a hero, not a sidekick, he should be invited as well.
I'm so sorry if I'm being rude, I love the ponies, I don't have to say anything about the villains, I just think the other ponies of ponyville, like the train conductor, granny smith, and the pony giving food inside the train all treat Spike so harshly.

doesn't affect the quality of a single episode usually, but it annoys me when characters that are just flat-out...not good throughout the series are suddenly forgiven of everything they've ever done as "a lesson of friendship"

In the case of Trixie, this makes perfect sense when you look at just how rapidly the Amulet was corrupting her. Her original intentions for buying it and going to Ponyville in the first place were probably already corrupted by the time she got to Ponyville. Punishing her for her actions would be like punishing the Discorded Mane Six for what they did under Discord's control. On top of that, she already had her life ruined once when she didn't deserve it, the Mane Six probably felt she'd suffered for things she wasn't responsible for enough as it was without it happening AGAIN.
For Discord, I doubt he'll get off totally scot-free but he is using his powers for things other than his personal gain and entertainment at least (getting turned to stone was a big enough scolding).
As for Spike, I will admit how him not being able to go is weird. But considering how the Mane Six are barely recognized for defeating evilit shouldn't come as a huge shocker. Seems that in Equestria, defeating evil isn't a huge deal. Maybe others do it so it's nothing special there. I can see them at first not saying anything about freeing Luna from NMM but with Discord's downfall, it's hard to ignore that they got a Star Wars-esque celebration.

Trixie WOULD make sense in that regard if she wasn't already a not nice character without the Amulet. Reminds me of something that Bulkhead said once on Transformers Animated: "You were always mean to me and Bumblebee. You may not be a traitor... but you were never a good bot."

I do agree, when Discord went "good" it hacked me off, and I didn't like the message. Does everyone deserve a second chance? No, not really. Not everyone deserves to have that chance.
With Trixie, I'm ambiguous. I mean, that's been in almost EVERY child like cartoon ever. Is it annoying? Yeah, kinda, but it is standard now-a-days.
With Spike not being invited, it felt to me as a half-baked attempt to give him his own episode, but it only raises more questions/problems.
