Description For now it's still WIP but that's my sort of futurish famas rifle converted into a battle rifle as it uses 7.62 nato and why it have a big magazine.
The render is very basic

Tell me that the bullets have no case.

Unfortunately they have, my design is pretty conventional overall, but I know that a caseless gun would have been a more advanced design.

Oh well, it's still a railgun! And with the casings it's basically the C-14 Marine Rifle (it's even called Gauss)! What muzzle energy (difficult question I know, but I like to see weapons that could outclass blasters) does it have?

It's a question that is a bit hard to answer because it depends on the cartridges loaded and if you use it in full auto or with the magnetic accelerator.
The weapon allows a strong burst of three, but the system uses its full potential in terms of raw power with the single shot mode where it can outclass sniper rifles of higher caliber while being a compact rifle.
As for blasters, I don't know how a projectile weapon can compare, they do different damage type

I'll say this: slugthrowers are better than flaslight.

Slugs pierces and damages stuff with impact force while the Light burns and irradiate stuff.

7.62 FAMAS eh? Been looking for one of these!~

Yes it's famas inspired, most people tend to say it's like Halo's BR or Heleghast Rifle from Killzone which I can't deny the resemblances.
I just wanted something custom that shoots bursts and have a gauss attack ideal for sniping.
Probably other functions are planed but well this is for now just a model

ah hell. I finally get find the perfect design for my rifle and somebody else did it. And by god, you did it well.

also the comments are very educational. have a good'un

The FAMAS and the Hellghast rifle are two of my favorite assault rifle designs ever, and I see elements of both here. Love it.

heh I think I did the right design twist here

Just a note: if it's a Gauss (electromagnetic) weapon, it would be highly impractical to use a traditional (7.62MM NATO) round.
My only critique on the model itself is that it could use a little bit of beefing up on the pistol grip, and some smooth-shaded love on the more rounded geometry.
Other than that, it looks promising.

i thought electromagnetic weapons were railguns?

Railguns uses parallel coils on each side of the barrel / projectile, while Gauss guns uses a single coil who surrounds the barrel / projectile. They are still electromagnetic accelerators / mass drivers but they aren't the same.
I will try to see about the stuff on the gun as I will update this when I get something new

ok, true enough.

Actually, Railguns and Gauss guns (AKA Coilguns) are two very different forms of electromagnetic weaponry.

A Railgun uses two conductive rails set parallel to each other, which are then charged by some form of capacitor bank. To fire a Railgun you simply connect the two rails with the conductive mental projectile which is to be fired, and then some magnetic force reaction (the theory of which I am not fully versed on) causes the projectile to rocket down the rails at high velocity, generally accompanied with at least a small amount of waste-plasma generated by part of the rails/projectile being burned off due to the massive energy levels involved.

A Gauss(Coil) Gun is (in general) a bit simpler than a Railgun, basically being either a single coil of specialized wire (usually copper) or a series of coils designed to fire one after another. The operative idea behind the Coilgun being that a large amount of power (generally from capacitors) is run through the coil(s) of the weapon, pulling the projectile to be fired down the weapon's barrel towards them, before deactivating as the projectile approaches the center of the coil.

Hope that clears things up a bit. If I didn't make anything clear, have a look at the Wiki articles for the two items, that's where I gleaned most of my information.
