Description

As you can see on this image, I went with a "hangar" version which utilizes the narrow spine for storing and launching the TIE fighters. However, I didn't go for the Legends version of the Neb-B carrying two squadrons of starfighters but only one squadron, aka 12 TIEs instead of 24. And there's a simple reason for that: 24 would be both a logistical nightmare for a frigate and total overkill for its entire raîson d'être, that being a light and CHEAP escort ship for imperial convoys. 24 TIEs is the equivalent of the complement of my personal favorite of imperial capital starships, the Gladiator-class cruiser, and that thing is twice as long and about 5 times as wide as the Neb-B. And as others already have pointed out in various forums and probably also youtube videos using properly scaled models: you can't squeeze 24 TIEs into the hull itself even if you completely carved it out and left nothing but a paper-thin hull.

In this version of the Neb-B, the TIEs are packed into two rows with six fighters each. They are dropped from the racks the same way the Gozanti-class does, however the pilots do not enter their starfighters through a retractable airlock tunnel - they have to do a little EVA from an elevator protected by an atmospheric shield, and enter their fighters in the vacuum of space, which isn't a big deal since TIE fighter pilot suits are sealed and pressurized anyway, and the TIEs lack a life support system and therefore a normal atmosphere as well. Recovery, maintenance and restocking the fighters with anything else than tibanna gas and energy is done inside the ship's hangar, though, which leads us to ....

EDIT: had to re-upload the file because some of the meshes were missing while others which are actually just for measurement purposes were rendered.

As the former ships cook drifted in the void, his last thoughts were that maybe 3 weeks in a row was a little too long to only serve liver or fish

If I had caught him serving liver for more than one day he'd have been tossed out the waste disposal airlock immediately

It was the ships Drs pierce and McIntyre that finally got fed up and jettisoned him
