Here's the cover art I did for Firebase #8. At the time I was doing this, my regular job was really dominating most of my time including weekends. So, unfortunately I couldn't devote as much time to this piece as I would've liked. Excuses .... excuses ....My goal is to try to grow with each attempt at the cover. What is actually happening is that I'm just trying to get it done and be semi-presentable.
Time was running out so, I just finished up a bit here and a touch up there .... and sent it off to the editor. Although, I got a feeling I could've worked on it a few more days because the issue didn't come out till almost two weeks later. Oh well ... its all good.
This was done with pencils on a 8.5x14 paper. Scanned in and colored in Photoshop. The subject matter (an Adeptus Mechanicus force) is based off pictures of a converted Ad Mech Army. There are a few embelishments here and there on my part when I couldn't quite make out what I was seeing in the reference pics but for the most part ... its drawn from all the miniatures. The player who converted his army did a really nice job. If you're curious, go check it out at:

Superb. You dont have to spend a month to make something good. Sometimes suggestion is just enough. Im a big fan of warh illustrations because my art advanture almost began with them. Nice thrifty and simple lines outstanding color matching, dynamic composition, and depth of field they are already in this piece. Sure you could polish it to perfection and that could also be fun, but theres no need. I think the editor didnt mind less detail here and there cause he needs overall impression on the cover, thats hes goal. Blah blah blabbering enough of talking bored you enough. Awesome picture, great congratulations.
