Description
Conwy Castle in Wales. Love this place. Built on solid Welsh rock. That looks like one seriously defensible castle.Related content

I loved how the walls of Conway basically spread across the whole town. And the really amusing irony of the statue of Llewellyn Fawr in the town square. If that's not a little Welsh defiance I don't know what is. XD
It would have been really interesting to see Conway back when it's whitewash/limewash was brand new. It must have just glowed.

It's amazing to me that unlike Chester or York or London or what have you, that Conwy still exists almpst entirely within thos walls. Absolutely fantastic. I agree wholeheartedly...it must have been an incredible site.

*nods* (even though I am not a big fan of 'Longshanks', one can't help but be impressed with the engineering that went into the construction of his Welsh castles).
I've had the fortune to get to walk York's remaining medieval walls and it various bars. Thankfully a great deal of the medieval city has managed to survive into this time. Alas, not much can be said for London in that regard. Though I have seen some of the leftover walls of Londinium. Too weird seeing these Roman brickworks surrounded by huge glass highrises.
