You know there is something that I have always wondered about with Deadlands: Wasted West. The uniformity of the mutations among the rampaging mutants that will eat your face off vs. the variety of mutation that you find among the mutant populace less inclined to make a meal out of your face. A mutation is suppose to be a freak occurrence (no pun intended there) among a populace that does not repeat itself in the same way among an abundant portion of the population. Before you get your purple or green robes in a wad, I am a real life freak and I know that there are few like me running around out there. This is one of the reasons why I know how this bit works! There are enough of the face eating marauders out there to be their own species. So, how do you know those creatures are mutants?

they are part of human, part of alien and of cource half dead. so they are some kind zombie aliens. still they are if i don't got any better idea.

Some of them spread like viruses and diseases, recreating the same mutations over a large populations. Others are just the Reckoners having fun and causing a havoc - creating fear by raising armies of similar faced mutants to make it seem as though the army will never end.
