Description
Well... At least for me it is a quite functional formula I've been using here on DeviantART.I just SIMPLY ignore.
Inside every single Gallery in DA people have been Targets of Haters just for the simple fact that they like stuff others don't.
I've seen that a lot inside the fandoms (those ANTI-this and ANTI-that), People discussing what's art and what's not in a non-respectful way... You know... Depressing stuff all around...
Some use the excuse of saying: "That's just my opinion."
Well... Nothing against people's opinions about stuff...
It's just that it makes me laugh when some, protected by the internet Anonymity, throw harsh words at others just for the simple pleasure of B*tching! Or to make themselves known in that kind of pitiful way...
And since after a while of no response they simply get tired of waiting... It's a quite good tactic
Specially because I have lots of other things to spend my time on than to pay attention to those kinds of stuff...
In fact... I haven't even done this stamp as a form of answer, and I don't mind if people think it may be, or if it's something to be flamed and stuff...
I only made it because the idea appeared to be quite funny to me!
Thank you Folks!

You know why (not all but a few) write hate comments and shit? Because popular artist won't talk to them if they write normal comments - with hatershit they at least gain attention (or try to do so).
Happened to me a few times - funnieZ ~

the second part of this stamp is very nice but the first part is aggressive and presuming, i wish i could fav this cause true ignoring is not nastily labeling others

If only people were as smart as you my friend. I come across stamps that I disagree with all the time, but I ignore them, don't leave a comment. Not everyone has that sort of self control.

I'm stUmped (pun intended) that some people don't get the point of the stamp... O_o It's not about people that get irrationally offended by good-willed advice or constructive criticism but about people who demean you and your work for no other reason than ill entertainment. And, yes, you HAVE to ignore the trolls after some point, especially when it becomes harassment. For your own emotional health! That's what international campaigns against bullies say anyway: Don't feed the bullies, IGNORE them (and a stamp like this is still a part of a similar campaign here on dA, no matter how tiny).

Does "hater" also include blunt-and-not-sugar-coated critique, because those aren't the same thing.

No, people need to hear that criticism or they can never improve.
Unfortunately, some whiny people take that as 'bullying'. -facepalm-

Newsflash! People are allowed to have opinions and they're allowed to express them, however 'offensive' you or others consider them to be. Just because someone does not like the same shit you do doesn't make them a hater in any sense of the word.

I think what Washu is pointing out is not the people with innocent opinions, but the ones who have some damn hardcore opinions and try to pick fights with them. When they're asked to leave they keep coming back and essentially it turns into flaming or trolling. But people continue to hide behind the 'It's just my opinion!' wall as if that makes the trollish/flaming behavior acceptable somehow.
Of course, thankfully, everyone reserves the right to block whomever they want for whatever reason they want here on dA as well.

It is 'just their opinion' though. People also have the freedom to be as rude and blunt as they want.

Luckily we in return have the freedom to ignore their trolling bullshit
Which is what this stamp is about, oh the irony ~

Pasithea In reply to Lyn-Zo [2011-04-17 20:03:44 +0000 UTC]
Honestly it depends on the website. Most Terms of Service on websites prohibit such behavior. You can call it being 'rude' and 'blunt' but a lot of times it's just trolling and harassment. Which is a bannable offense on most websites. So no, people don't have the freedom to behave however they want on every and any website. Perhaps in real life, depending on your country, but definitely not on any website.

It's getting irritating that everyone uses "The Internets Anonymity" as an excuse. Has anyone ever considered that these people are just assholes, online and in real life? If you dont like what they have to say say F*ck em and go about your day. Its that easy.

Fortunately, I haven't met haters in art galleries. But I've talked with some Bleach haters. So on the beginning I try some discussion, but if I see that the person isn't able to talk normally then I just end the topic ^^ You won't convince (or at least make understand your arguments) such people anyway, it will only cause a war, so it's not needed.

I'm really surprised by the responses I've seen to this. What is wrong with people?
Ignoring a troll isn't the same as simply not listening to any opinion contrary to your own.
If someone has genuine criticism on a piece I say bring it on. That's not hating, that's helping an artist improve.
People tend to confuse negative criticism with hating something just because it's something you don't like, and not having anything more to say than "This sucks", "You suck" etc
If you go up to someone and tell them "Ok I think, the left eye is slightly skewed from the right and I think there is a bit of a proportion issue. You may want to try..." That's not hating, that's lending someone your opinion and eyes. Telling someone how they can improve the piece so they can carry that advice onto other creations.
I don't think that kind of help is harmful. The Artists can ignore it and choose not to improve but it isn't that the person commenting is 'hating'.
Sure some seem to spin into a rage whenever you try to help, I just tend to make a mental note that they'd rather live in their fluffy pink happy world where everyone agrees with them, and make sure not to hang around wasting my time trying to help them anymore.
If someone comes along and says "OMG Twilight, wtf? That is such crap and you're crap for making it."
That's just trolling, and everyone knows not to feed the trolls. One can choose to yell until their voice is hoarse and battle it out but what does that really accomplish?
I myself have been trolled, though not really here but on youtube. I posted several videos over the years but for some reason the trolls fixated on one video (in which I stated my opinion about several issues) and proceeded to say some very nasty and disgusting things about me personally. They even got their friends/alternate accounts into it. I honestly laughed it off and ignored it. Blocked all involved and even got one guy banned for repeatedly attacking. Sometimes I replied when I felt like wasting my time, but for the most part just blocked and continued on my way. Why waste my time on their issues?
Life is too short to be constantly defending yourself. Sometimes the only way to deal with it is to ignore it. That's not being a chicken or a wimp. That's being mature enough not to play their game. They may have no lives and thus have all the time in the world to start shit. But my time is too precious to waste it on idiots.
Love the stamp. If I ever get another paid account, I'll be sure to add it to my journal/shout box.

it's the freedom of speech thing, I am glad they have the right to say things, even tho I don't agree with some people sometimes. I like constructive criticism tho, but some people are just hating. I try my best to be humble and learn from others.

That sort of defeats the purpose of what you're trying to claim.
