Description Subject to edits as I'm still in early planning stages. Also was a bit of test for a different map-drawing style to try and make it more fun. Sorry if some text is too small to read but I guarantee it's nothing important. I can zoom in as far as I want on my pc to scribble details all over it but there's no point uploading an image that big.

For the lore stuff:
The first settlers were in the region now known as Verezar. The island was united beneath a string of Emperors in the early days, but due to humans being humans it all broke down and 4 family lines began to rise into power, and chop the island into quarters. There is no Emperor any more, only monarchs of the 4 regions. They pretty much believe that if they can conquer the other 3 they can wrest control and become the new Emperor, but the relatively equal strength of all 4 means warfare has been perpetual for a long, long time. So long in fact, that it's become somewhat of a sport. Generals of the regions purposely seek out fights against the others for the sake of glory and testing their mettle. Conquered territory is just a bonus.

The territory borders are more of a vague guideline than anything solid. Borders are subject to debate whether through petty "that's mine", "no it's not", to full-blown invasions into each others' lands where whole cities may be conquered. Due to the 4-way nature of the never-ending warfare, generally, whatever is taken is lost again somewhere down the line. Extending too far on one side weakens the region on the other.

Natural disasters are starting to become more common, with storms and flooding, earthquakes, and dark clouds of ash rising out of the ever-so-subtly-named Ash Mountain. Some of the people believe that they are angering the four spirits of nature with their rampant disrespect, shredding the land of every resource they can find to fuel the growth of kingdoms and warfare. What they don't know is that they are experiencing an earthquake swarm prior to a volcanic eruption and that there is much worse to come.

Is this related to your main project or some other work? It's a lovely map. I especially like how you drew the mountains.

Related in that it traces a certain bloodline back 200 years from my main project, and it's set in the same world. It's a separate tale though. And thanks

Wunderbar! Awesome map!
Only thing I'd put in would be a scale to show distances.

Overall, very very cool though.
