Philip K. Dick's The Variable Man. Rework of the cover art for a canceled project from last year. For a decade, I had tried to emulate the traditional oil painting feel with the use of overlay textures on a very patient brushwork and the support of smudge tools in a time when no one cared about it and no one would pay for it. The market was only interested in over-rendered images and "digital renascentists" like me seemed all doomed. Then, in February 2020, I met Escape Motion's Rebelle. It came with tools that emulate all sorts of traditional painting and provided me the plastic feel I chased with no effort. I could even make the impasto effect and watercolors that move in real time while changing the direction and inclination of the canvas! (REALLY!) It's been exactly one year since I began to professionally working with Rebelle to achieve my best plastic solutions while developing images in a digital platform and I could not be more thankful for this amazing tool that was specially developed for people like me.
