XD...It took me uh...4-6 hours (I had fast destruction mod on, so blocks could be destroyed fast like in classic mode)

...and BOY DOES THAT HELP. Mining obsidian can be a pain without that. I want to try something like that desk too (after I find brown wool and finish my cake house). I want to Build something HUGE!!!
