Description
Stoically proud and with perfect poise,This tree's grace is serene, without noise.
Deeply rooted, secure where she stands,
Caressing golden sunlight with upraised hands.
By sweet fruits her children are nourished,
All those under her soft shade have flourished..
I pause beside her and take the time to lean,
Wondering of the many things that she has seen.
Thickened bark in places is all that remains,
Of a past marred by distressing pains.
Her heartwood hid beneath hardened exterior,
A challenge it is to try and be near to her.
My pertinent transgressions are without doubt,
Something she would rather live without.
But for me it is hard to take that step back,
Leave her heart a secret, her bark intact.
Quivering leaves at her tips though belie,
A certain nervous shyness lurking inside.
But as a whole her character is one of might,
And in her strength many others find respite.
Her benevolent boughs often support,
My diseased mind in sick depressions caught.
A happy person it is easier to be,
With the wonderful care of this tree.
A beautiful tree I am so glad to know,
Contented just to sit and together grow.
It is my hope that in return I might provide,
However small, something to cheer her inside.
