Description
This was a fairly quick peice, but I like it enough to put it in the Deviant section. I'm not entirely sure what the message of it is, I was just trying to instill a feeling of panic and intense anxiety in the veiwer; by picking out a few undesirable things. The open eyes and bitten lips suggest quivering terror, paralysed like a deer in the headlights. If the figure were fleeing; her expression would be more sweaty. I used a female figure as nothing is more terrible than a woman in distress, by some deep calling men are drawn to there saving and apalled when they cannot not be saved. Similar is the compassion for a woman to another of her sex. The relaxed hand and slit wrists show pain and suffering; while adding a self mutilation edge; something which many people would indeed find terrible. The hand is relaxed, suggesting death (as does the plentiful blood) which is traditionaly mankind's greatest fear, being unsurmountable by any feat of bravery. The arm turns to glass, reflecting the sharpness of the blades by which the arm was cut, and adding to a broken feel. Like my picture in scraps, what looks and feels more broken than shattered glass (apart from perhaps an umberella)
