Description
This is a picture of Lucien Freud, a copy of one of his self portraits. He is a fantastic portrait artist, he gets the skin tone so well. In this peice I accentuated all the colours, to help me realise that while a face may just look like a slab of pale pink; there are in actual fact a whorl of colours working together to make a face; albeit quite muted tones at times. I like this, and the dull drab colours work well and are akin to Lucien's own style.Related content

Very nice indeed [Lucien=]. The rough textures and brushstrokes are excellent.
But I do suggest trying other things too so you don't get stumped into just one particular type of creation. I used to be just a sketchist and then I took a ceramics class.
Now I'm a sketching/painting/clay nerd. Which is fine with me.

Yar, I do need to get out more; most of my stuff is acrylic and sketch. Which is fine for most purposes, but sometimes I'd like to have the opportunity to do more. While I am still chasing my mathematics, I dont mind my art being a bit behind.

Again I am bedazzled. This reminds me of a paintint of George Orwel but I can't remember who it's by. I relly like this a lot. I wish that I could paint to any sort of standard at all. Im quite jeleous.

Thanks, I like painting portraits, although I think I ought to experiment. You just need to practise, I painted this in about three hours on some paper; although its quite rare that anything that quick turns out pretty well. It took a while to grow on me but now I like it a lot; a lot of texture.
