Description
Over the years the Ford Motor Company, like every other auto manufacturer, has used a number of slogans to popularize and promote their products. Some of the current slogans are:
Ford. Feel the difference.
Ford. Bold moves. (USA)
Built for life in Canada. (Canada)
Built for the road ahead.
Ford. Designed for living. Engineered to last.
Have you driven a Ford lately?
Given the age of this truck, they do seem to hang a round for a long time.
Naming this image was somewhat of a challenge for me so I started with some of the slogans that Ford has been using. Obviously none of them fit easily, so I let the truck, in its setting make the final choices.
I have driven by this Ford many times, and have had a concept of how I view it, but never stopped to photograph it. A couple of weeks ago though, the weather, and time seemed to speak to me, so I made the stop. Initially, what struck me was the foreboding darkness that the storm system had created in the whole scene. The image reminded me of those old movies, where the hero (or perhaps villain, depending upon your perspective) was the out cast. The kid born on the wrong side of the tracks, who falls in love with the βwrongβ girl. (Certainly, her daddy is not happy with the romance.) In any event, this truck, in the setting and with the lighting seemed to suggest that he was a tough character, just looking for a chance to rumble once again.
I hope you enjoy the imagery and are likewise....ready to RUMBLE.
In June 2009 I learned that " Built to Rumble " was selected by the Central and Northern Juried Art Show judges to tour. This is the second image from " An Old Ride Collection " that has been selected by the Jury. The previous selection, " Ridge Road Chevy " [link] toured in 2008.
"Built to Rumble" is part of The Old Ride Collection which will be in the following communities until 2011:

A few days before I found an old car around my neighbourhood...I tried to shot it. I was full of joy when I begin to shot it. But the results were not so brilliant for me and want top check them on computer...There was no differenece when I searched them at the laptop screen...Decided that It was not a good car to take photographs...I felt sorry becasue I want to make a surprise to you....
When I look at your latest old track photogarphs I understand that I am not good at shooting them my dear friend...thanks for sharing

Hey Ayhan,
maybe what you think is not true. The shots are challenging to process. If you are willing, I am prepared to process a shot for you and send you the results with the steps so you know what is involved.
Send me an e-mail if you want to try this.

u serious??? When I was writing the comment, I was saying to myself - now all I need to make a fool of myself is u telling me it isn't haha. It looks absolutely stunning though

yes indeed I am serious.
HDR affects brows, reds and greens. I don't like what it does. So I developed a processing method from a RAW file that retains lots of detail in shadows and highlights.

Thanks Farhad,
I am not sure if it is the best, but it certainly rivals "Ridge Road Chevy" which is on a 5 month tour. I am thinking that this is the image i will enter into the juried show next April.

Yep, Wayne, that was definately your day to make this image! It's spectacular with those coulds! Awesome image
I always liked these old trucks. My dad and grandfather had one about like it (I think it was a '46 Ford) that I practically learned to drive in. They are relatively easy to work on (compare to todays vehicles ) and would just run and run. A fellow learned fast that TWO hands on the wheel are required to drive one or the Armstrong Power steering would work you over good or worse, toss you in the ditch
They were noisy, cumbersome and slow and I would dearly love to have another one just like this
Well done, Wayne and thanks for sharing

Then there are the other slogans the Chevy people came up with for Ford: Found On Road Dead Fix Or Repair Daily...
or backwards Driver Returned On Foot .lol THe old girl is blind and dented, but still has a look of character and strength. Beautiful image Wayne.

there is a site I came across that really puts ford's down. I have driven one for years, and quite honestly, I have found them to be the best vehicles I have ever owned.

I always am a sucker for those old cars, and you just photograph them so well.
Plus I love the narrative.
Lately "Ford is the Best in Texas" has led me to wonder what they said in other states.
