Reminds me of Mater from Cars.
Lovely shot, think it really reminds me of being a kid and playing with about anything, the fun an spirits of being a kid with no cares. Rather than thinking " Don't get hurt!" - But I think I'm just going on now...

I am kind of an old guy...so the answer is yes.
I studied photography in the late 70's and have been taking pictures since 75. My work is all over the place, which is kind of neat to see. I have taught photography a few times, and right now I teach for a college if, and when, they get a class together. No pressure, just something I enjoy doing.
keep working, concentrate on exposure and depth of field...those are the two major areas you will need to understand to be a good photographer....and if possible, take an art class and look at LOTS AND LOTS of pictures. You can learn, even from the bad ones.

I am takeing Art classess right now in college. Do you think i have the skills to do what i want to do? I would love to get a peice of your work. im more less scared that i dont have what its going to take. the thing thats geting me is all the things you can do to pics now i dont like it. i like the real thing and not doing things to them.

Hi Cee,
You pose a question that is very difficult for me to answer. There is kind of two things to photography, the technique and the art. Both can be learned, but as you say there is also a gift component to it. It is kind of like playing a musical instrument, anyone can learn the technique but there is a ceiling they will hit if they donβt have the natural talent or ability. (FYI...I still struggle with this question because even these two donβt seem to be enough, sometimes it is knowing the right people....but I donβt believe in the big break).
I suggest you take it one step at a time. Learn the techniques. Even learn the ones you donβt like or want to use, like enhancements. That way if you know them well, you will be in a better place to choose what to do, because you will KNOW what the effects will be. (It is just one more skill). Also learn and apply the rules of art. For instance the rule of thirds I think is crucial. There is a psychology to art, so learn that too. How it comes out in the end is anyoneβs guess. Any direction we take in life is a gamble. For instance have you ever heard of Modigliani? He was a contemporary of Picasso. Now I am sure you have heard of Picasso. But did you know that Modigilani was actually more talented than Picasso? Yet Picasso got the recognition. I guess one can be cynical about that, but the point is, that talent alone does not carry the day. Personally I believe it is consistent hard work. Do art every day, even if it is just a few minutes, but donβt skip a day. Do your best to learn the skills, trust in your self, trust in your God given talents and abilities and do your best. Nothing more can be expected.
