Named for the location in which this beautiful lady is located. This is a 1941 Chev originally owned by Charley Orchard. It has a 216 inline 6-cylinder engine with a 3-speed transmission.
"So bye-bye, miss American pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die.
"this’ll be the day that I die." "

Love the composition of this, how the clouds appear to be bursting over the top of the truck, and the energy of the plants as if they're skyrocketing into the air. It's interesting how an image of a static, immobile truck can have such vitality in it.

Me too. Ridge Road Chevy was one of the first pictures I took for the show "An Olde Ride - Classics in the Rough". I remember lying on the ground among the weeds to get this angle. I really wanted those clouds in the image because in my mind they pulled the whole composition together. I am however, a little surprised that you even found it in the gallery. While it is the most popular image, it is no longer featured, had has not be shown publicly for 6 years.
thanks for your comment.

Very impressive! Somehow it reminds me on the shots of www.deviantart.com/wb-skinner - don't know why... But I love it anyway.

Hey Sam,
I like your ID, it reminds me of some other young women I met on my travels. They drove this truck that I called Bog Hog. [link] I got to meet the family, but I have never seen the girls race it.
Take care thanks for the comment.

What kind of filter did you use on your lens? It's an amazing photograph.

Sounds goof tom,
today I found a studebaker truck. I have long wanted to find one of these for my collection.

Love the composition with the clouds diverging from the top of the roof. The dry brush ads a nice touch. I have an old Chevy truck in my collection too, but my composition is not nearly as nice. If I were to do it all over again I would slap on a 10-stop ND and let those clouds paint across the sky.

thanks,
Ridge Road Chevy is the flag ship of a show that has tours in 13 places in 30 months. It is all over now (as of last Tursday), and I will go on to another series starting in the fall.
Youmight want to reconsider the 10ND... I am thinking that your money would be much better spent on a high quality polarizing filter. (That is how I got the clouds to come out).

Interesting frame!
It resemble that those cars are from another decade and
there is damn low number of it on the roads.
I always loved American Beauty

"It is very interesting insights into the world"
Because not every photo is like this ;D

Very nice. The headlamp and trim look so new, good contrast to an old rusty body.

they are all over out here, lots of land, so people have tended to leave them as they sit.

Great!!!
Reminds me of a place not far from there I live..It's called Kyrkömosse Bilkyrkogård (car-cemetary)..an old car breaker's yard that have become landmarked.
It's a exciting place and my camera went hot when I was there...

there is a field out there that I found many years ago, it is not almost a forest, but it has many old cars (but not as many as the site you speak of). It kind of makes me wonder how and why it got there.

mmm..it's a little strange...maybe it's a little bit deserted? They may have been dumped there in the belief that not being detected...or maybe as a graveyard for cars?

really don't know. The area is fairly remote, so I am not even able to ask anyone.

maybe it's therefore people left them there..in a way it's littering, but on the other hand, it becomes a work of art in all cases when it is really old cars
