Description Some years ago, I met the owner of this truck.  At that time he was planning on restoring it.  That is a number of years ago, and so far nothing seems to have happened.  I hope the title I have used is not accurate.

Yes, but I think there is still a chance for restoration.

They can take a lot of rust those old one's there is some serious steel in those bodies.

With the rust and faded paintwork it almost seems to blend into the natural environment.

Oftentimes in situations like this, the gap between 'planning' and 'starting' on projects that require the amount of time and money as THIS old girl obviously needs, can be rather long...^^'

WayneBenedet In reply to Seraphestus [2017-02-11 06:08:34 +0000 UTC]

This would be true.  The owner runs a body repair shop

Love this.  Found a school bus yesterday from the late 1930's/early 1940's. It's behind a gate with a 'no tresspassing' sign. The placement at the edge of the woods is beautiful, it's obviously been there a long time.  The windows are all intact also.  I'm on a mission to find the owner and ask for permission to go photograph it.  It's tempting to hop the fence for 5 minutes but I hate doing it.....   I love the feeling of stumbling across something new to shoot like this.

Fortunately there is less concern with being on private land here in Canada.  People here don't get bent out of shape  about this as easily as Americans do.  As long as land and property are being respected, people here are generally willing to allow someone to walk the land.  I think this comes from the understanding that while you might own title to a piece of property, in reality, the "LAND" itself can never be owned.  I have never understood the attitude of the American people to land, but then I have never been an American either.

FabulaPhoto In reply to WayneBenedet [2017-02-10 16:12:55 +0000 UTC]

Maybe I need to come to Canada.  There's a no 'trespassing sign' (hand painted) right on the gate, so I wouldn't have any excuse if I got caught.  Being a relatively rural area I could get away with hopping over for a minute to photograph it.  I believe it's a 1939 Dodge.

great shot! and true comment.
here in america we own the right to pay taxes on the land but someone else can own the mineral rights, water rights, timber rights, etc. it is just part of the american greed!
canada doesn't have the crime rates as the us either

WayneBenedet In reply to jeepdork [2017-02-11 06:12:15 +0000 UTC]

Ownership is similar in Canada. It does not include mineral rights.  I thinb the difference is in the attitude.

What a lovely find.  The frost on the windshield and snow on the ground says it's out in the elements, which can only make the patina better with each passing year.

It's called 'Sick Glass Disease'.  I've known the term for a long time but never really understood what causes it.  Here's a Wiki article about it.  (I'm larnin' sumpin' new today )
