Description my side of an art trade with

I'd say more, but I'm almost late for work, so I'll comment later.

*later-ish*

ok, I'm back from work, now for the comment:

this guy was REALLY fun to draw. I mean, he's a wolf/raptor beast, and he's green! who wouldn't enjoy drawing something so awesome as that?

then there is the tools I used. the base is done with Prismacolor markers while the shading was done using Steadler colored pens. it was so fun, not to mention relaxing.

hope you like him Jakx.

The colors are very nicely done and I find them very well 'ut out'. The claws look so freakin' awesome!

I can BREATHE again! Now it's time to comment on this baby!

Okay, first of all I have to say that I literally adore this! It's too awesome for words! As I said before he works so well in your style. I guess your style's perfect for fantastical beasts like Adema here. And damn, you gave him such character too! Look at him brandishing his claws there with that wicked grin on his face. Such a badass. Love it!

But definitely what I love most, yep you guessed it, it's the colouring! It's BEAUTIFUL! And I just realised that it's all marker. O_O You certainly had me fooled for a second there, I could have sworn that was coloured pencil. Still, the furry texture created through those little fine lines in remarkable. And his claws look even deadlier with that shiny metalic effect you gave them. Sweeeeeeeet.

All in all, you did an outstanding job. I doubt my half will even come close to being as good as this beauty! (Currently in the middle of colouring it ) Anyways, thanks a ton for this, Waz It certainly brightened up my day seeing this! 8D As for the lineart, I think I might take it into photoshop and use it for colouring practice. Nice clean lineart is just what I need! ^^

Thanks again, buddy!

I enjoyed the bloody heck out of coloring this guy. he's such a bright and well design character, my style wouldn't look half as good with him if not for the ref you sent me.

I'm so glad you liked it. I wanted to give you something of equal effort for the trade because I know traditional media is WAY harder then digital because any mess up done can't be "undo"ed. and I would very much like to see how you would color this digitally.

and I certainly can't wait to see what your part looks like, especially concerning Amber

for markers, you work with the lightest and up to the dark

This thing is wicked awesome.

although i think the claws look like metal, are they metal or simpy so black and shiney the look that way?

Wazaga In reply to Banarok [2009-04-16 22:39:06 +0000 UTC]

they aren't metal, I just wanted to make then so shiny and deadly looking because I wanted to and it really helps emphasize the wickedness in the grin.

Nice colours! Are there some coloured pencils to make that texture there?

Wazaga In reply to lennan [2009-04-16 22:37:56 +0000 UTC]

not a single one. shading was done using a slightly darker marker as a base, then I textured it using colored fineliner Steadler pens that I got a few weeks back.

Wow, the colors on this are so great! You make me want to pick up my markers again! They don't get enough love from me.
But seriously, I can't get over the colors in this. You made some really great choices here. They work together so well and the shading just emphasizes that. Great work, Waz!

wish I could say that they were my choices, but they ain't. Jakx sent me a picture of the character (which she hasn't introduced to dA yet) for reference.

and you should break out your markers! the blue lizard demands it!
