Description

There's some neat work being done with GANs on making fake images, either photographs or drawings. I came across an interesting one called thisanimedoesnotexist.ai/ , which is dedicated to making anime-style images. Check it out if you have a moment. You may be familiar with sites like Waifu Labs that just focus on potraits, and this is similar. But what is a GAN? A GAN is a "Generative adversarial network", which according to Wikipedia is something complicated and is written at a level higher than I can easily understand. Anyways, I looked at some of the images it created, and I wanted to see if I could clean them up- take some of the sketchier, odd forms and turn them into something more significant. It's a bit like the opposite of drawing as symbols- it's taking something my mind interprets as a symbol and turning it into something meaningful. The generator struggles on arms and hands, for example.

This is part 1 of my sketches. I'd like to draw some more, because it feels like a good exercise to look at the images and try to figure them out. Also, I've been pretty busy lately, and it's gotten me feeling down because I haven't been able to get much art done.
