aside from my first attempt at a contest entry This is my first attempt at a star wars Universe warship. it is not intended to be more than a stab at that type of ship

"Interceptor" and "Intimidator" class Star destroyer

Specifically designed and manufactured for Blockade and punitive operations the "I" series Star destroyer is smaller and faster than the Imperial Class Star destroyer.

It mounts heavy turbo lasers, and smaller guns as well as a heavy compliment of star fighters and Blast boats. to blockade a world, strike at rebel installations and disable ships attempting to flee from the area.

The intimidator Is modified for orbital bombardment featuring a large compliment Bombers and Blast Boats. This allows the ship to strike over the horizon targets launch fast surprise raids, and secure large regions of a planetary surface without entering the line of fire of ground batteries.
In addition it mounts two super heavy canons usually used for orbital defense work, this extra firepower allows it to reduce targets on the ground to rubble with great speed and accuracy.
The including of the super heavy battery also has the side benefit of allowing it to attack, disable or destroy larger capital ships at extreme range, making it especially useful against rebel capital ships, that might respond to defend key facilities or evacuate personnel from the targeted areas.

Originally proposed as an escort to vessels mounting Hyperspace interdiction systems, The Interceptor carries a smaller number of heavy attack craft, but mounts two planetary defense grade Ion cannons which can disable enemy ships, and prevent target vessels from escaping. It also carries a number of assault shuttles and a large force of Storm troopers and regular navy forces which allow it to board disabled vessels or land a strike team to directly assault enemy facilities.

In one instance where rebel forces recovered, and reactivated a Clone wars era Star Destroyer. the ISS Ravager, responding to local rebel activity, arrived as the rebels were attempting to flee the system with their prize. The ravager was able to disable the vessel with it's ion cannons then destroy all escaping transports at extremely long range.
The Ravager sustained no damage during the combat and never entered the older larger Star Destroyers weapons range. It's Compliment of TIE fighters easily repelled a determined attack By several escort X-wing, and Y-wing fighters, then destroyed four B-wing fighters once the fighter escort was dealt with.
Several Smaller craft did escape, and ground personnel at the surface site escaped into the local population. However with the arrival of two Intimidators the planetary population, facing the threat of possible imperial reprisals, quickly revealed the location of the rebels hideout. The rebel hideout was destroyed by orbital bombardment with no further rebel forces escaping the planet.

Captain Hoff of the ISS Ravager was decorated, and promoted to Group Captain in command of a squadron of ships enforcing a punitive blockade of several disloyal worlds in the outer rim.

The cost and support machinery of the I series, and Current fleet doctrine, has limited it's deployment. Only a handful of these special purpose warships are currently serving with the Imperial Fleet as a field test force.
