Description
Meet Ningen, a japanese sea creature...In fact, more of an urban legend than anything.
This human-looking giant fish (about 20 meters in length, according to ''sightings'') Is rumored to swim in the cold waters of antartica.
Being all in all, fictional, it is however an interesting creature, and this is why I chose to do my own depiction of it.

hm... interesting, looks creepy. but even as a die-hard crypto zoology (studies trying to prove the existence of mythical beings) i think the ningen is a fabrication. pretty nat-looking though

I just discovered the Ningen myth last night, and it does annoy me that people still consider this a possible creature, even though its clearly a fabrication.
But the idea is certainly creepy and interesting...plus one can never go wrong with giant monsters made-in-Japan!

Yes, it is sad to see some people easily fooled by creations such as this one.

I know! Its like the public at large is more willing to believe fictional crap over the amazing real creatures in nature - the giant squid is very much fact, yet people would rather support Urban Legends, Ghosts, and the flipping Transformers!
Rant aside, thought you might like this piece of mine, since its very much in tune with the Ningen story (and maybe even their original inspiration?)

While it's true that people are willing to believe fact over fiction, I feel like there could be a very slim possibility--very slim the key words there--that the Ningen could be out there. We've only covered less than 5% of the ocean, and since we've only recently developed the technology to explore, there's probably a lot we still haven't found. After all, they thought the colossal squid and the Cyclops shark were just myths, and look what happened.Β But this is just my belief. I'm not saying that I'm gullible, I'm just saying that given how much ocean ground we have left to cover, it could be possible.
Also, I clicked your piece, and it's very well drawn. Kudos.
