Description
Ver2:It starts up in "Help" mode, but you can turn it off by ckicking on
the "Help" button.
Now with 5 instruments and 10 color chemes to choose from!
fiddling round with all the little sound files for this got boring, so
I amused myself by seeing how I could make the case a little
more fun.
I fixed the bug in the keys that used to deactivate all notes pressed
if one was released.
I think the instruments are an improvement on the original, but I'll let
you guys decide on how much on an improvement they are.
Ver1:
This is a flash based 'keyboard' that you play through your computer keyboard.
It took me a bit of fiddling to get the sound samples to play right,
but I've gotten it to a stage where I can put it on the web.
This is just version one. I hope to (eventually) have the option of more instuments,
some funky volume sliders, and maybe even a little metronome/drum-machine so you can
play along to really tacky drums.
It also has a clock for no particular reason, other than it looks cool... I think.
ENJOY!

Yeah... unfortunately you'd need a longer (computer) keyboard.
...hmmmm... unlees I had, say, one octave on the number and qwerty lines, and another ocatve on the asdfg and zxcvb lines.... but that may get a bit confusing.

Well... Computer keyboards don't have that much more spcae to play with...
I could possibly make it able to change octave.
What're your thoughts?

woah, certainly got more hightech didn't it.
ten more hours practice and i'm certain i'll be able to play fur elise thingo on it (argh can't spell)
and it currently sounds better than my home piano, lol.
the notes do seem to glip or whatever you call it because they obviously cut out when i stop pressing them, wouldn't have a clue on how to stop that. Of course the marimiba (still can't spell) and the popcorn don't because they're whole notes, but i do tend to make the rest make a pop noice when i realise them (pop noice, highly technical lanuage here folks) it sort of needs a forced echoe to a certain point to ensure the note ends smoothly, argh, now i have math on the brain *cough* moving on.
what did you make the notes in? or did you record them?
um um um...
oh yeah, and terribly amused by the fact you have an ideolab colour scheme too.
okay, that's it, i talk, errr type to much anyway.
*goes to play with the keyboard some more*

webbot15 In reply to H-SWilliams [2006-11-16 04:37:17 +0000 UTC]
okay...
I haven't worked out how to get rid of the blips yet. Because the sounds are on a timeline in a movie clip, I can't seem to be able to get to them with actionscript. I would've had the sounds activated with actionscript, but is sounds completely cruddy when they try and loop.
As for the notes, I pluged my keyboard (piano type, not computer type) into my computer and recorded the notes.
With the Sine Wave, Tacky Keyboard and Synth Choir instuments, I recorded a small bit, then changed the pitch for each concurrent note and resaved the file. For the Marimba and Popcorn, I played each note individually and saved it, because they (for some reason) sounded dodgy when I changed the pitch. I used Audacity to record them.
-deep breath in.....-
I though those of you from BA(AIM) first year might apreciate the Ideolab theme!
How'd you like the Pwetty theme?

pwetty? i saw it and went, Ahhhh pink! the horror, the horror, run!! lol.
i like grandpappy's, varnished and bubbles colours the best i think, and ideolab grows in me more each time i look at it, and so does goosebumps funnily enough too.

that cool as, much better than the one with the organ sounds i saw at uni. realy good job.
hav you thought about fx. you could make a corus fx by displaceing the left and right chanels in flash.
or do a flash ECHO by duplication the sound in a movie. ne way it's probably not a high priority

webbot15 In reply to robertjordan [2006-11-09 07:48:48 +0000 UTC]
Yeah... -(thinks deeply)-
That sounds like a definate plan.
I think I need to make it a little more action script based, rather than timeline based.
Love the echo idea! Thanks a bunch!
