Description
Cut to Le inside the doorway of a food technology room of the school.

Room is filled slightly with water gushing out of several broken pipes and spots where there is no water are dusty. Sharp shards of broken tiles also line the floor and the occasional spark flies from the dismantled sockets on the walls. The worktop going around the outside of the room has collapsed and all of the tables are either on their side or have legs missing and are lopsided. Windows have been blown out of their frames yet still sunlight shines through them illuminating small pieces of glass on the floor and casting a shimmering light across wall as it reflects off the water. Bodies lay scattered about the floor, with smoke still rising from their twisted, mangled limbs, which will occasionally twitch.

As Le enters haunting, slow music starts playing quietly and the camera zooms out of Le and pans around to reveal the state of the room and ends up back behind Le. Camera then switches to a far corner of the room and watches her cross the room slowly. A sound of cracking glass can be heard with every step that Le takes.

Camera switches to a closer view of the top half of Le so that her facial expressions can be seen more clearer. Teenage voices can be heard as if there is still a class going on.

Switch to Le’s POV – Camera looks at a cracked whiteboard and a teachers voice can be heard, instructing the pupils – camera then pans to some upturned desks and giggling and chattering can be heard. Camera then glides to the blown out windows.

Camera switches to close up of the sun on Le’s face for a quick shot. Camera then switches to behind Le as she looks out of the frame. The scene outside is cloudy, misty and dark. Dark clouds are starting to gather and drift over the fallen school.

Camera zooms in slowly to the window – music changes to a dark foreboding melody. A ray of golden sunlight breaks through the clouds – music becomes lighter. [Perhaps a piano solo]

Camera switches to the right-hand side of Le’s face as she continues to look out of the window. Some movement is heard from behind the camera. Camera switches to Alex and Katie in the doorway of the room.

[Katie]: It’s horrible isn’t it?

Camera switches back to Le.

[Leonie]: [Stammering] I…I…just kinda forgot that there were so many people here. I expected see blood and people missing limbs and even people who were dead – but not so many.

As Le finishes her sentence a tear runs out of her eye and camera cuts back to the doorway then cuts to Alex.

[Alex]: We should go.

Alex turns away and starts walking into the corridor. Katie starts to take a step back out of the doorway.

[Katie]: You comin’? [Whilst she’s moving]

Camera cuts back to Le in the same place as it was last shot. She sniffs and nods her head. Camera then pans and follows her as she splashes out of the room.

[Scene 2]

Scene opens at the bottom of an empty staircase looking up towards the top. Le, Katie and Alex slowly walk around the corner and start to plod down the stairs. The group remain silent, but running water and speaking can still be heard faintly in the background. As the three get half way down the stairs camera cuts to the top of the stairs as they continue downwards.

Camera pans down with them for the last three steps on the stairs.

When they reach the bottom camera switches to the floor in front of the gang looking up to them and moving back slowly with them in slow motion. We see Le move the right side of her shirt slightly to uncover the hilt of her sword. She gently rests her hand on the top.

[Shot in slow motion]Camera cuts to their feet and legs, they have got blood and water splattered up their jeans and their trainers have turned a pale shade of red. sounds of splashes and cracks are enhanced and echo as they exit the building. Their hair starts to sway slightly in the wind as they get to the doorway.

[Film returns to normal speed]Camera cuts to a top window in the school and watches them exit. From the right of the shot enters a group of teens.

Camera cuts to in front of Le and the group as Le’s name is shouted from her right. All of them look to the right and the camera pans to the left to see the group of three teenagers coming towards them and follows the group until they are standing only feet away.

Camera cuts to top half of Le with an annoyed expression on her face.

[Le]: [Quietly] Catrena.

Camera Cuts to top half of Catrena.

[Catrena]: Hey up bud how ya been?

Camera cuts back to Le.

[Le]: I’m not your bud Cat – not any more.

Camera goes back on Catrena.

[Catrena]: Fine be like that just tryin’ to be nice. Anyone ever tell you that you’ve got a serious problem?

Camera cuts to close up of Le.

[Le]: Now why would people want to do that when it’s standing in front of me?

Camera cuts to behind Catrena’s gang

[Catrena]: [Turning to her gang] You hear that girls? I don’t think she wants to be friends with us.

Le enters the shot from the right and the cameras focus is on her and Catrena is slightly out of focus.

[Le]: What are you getting at? [Forcefully] Either make your point or piss off.

Camera changes to in front of Le as she starts walking away, camera moves back with Le until Catrena shouts [camera focuses on Catrena and blurs Le]

[Catrena]: But she’s perfectly happy to go chasing after some Jehovah’s Witness trouble maker.

Camera switches to behind Le focusing mainly on her back.

[Le]: [Stopping with her back turned and head down] Re-think your word choice.

Close up on Catrena

[Catrena]: Erm – lemme think – no

Camera switches to top half of Alex

[Alex]: Who is she Le? ‘N’ can I hit her?

Camera switches to Le as she turns and glares at Catrena and says

[Le]: She’s someone I used to be friends with before I started here. She’s a wolf like me; hence if you look carefully, you’ll see a sword. [Le directs her eyes to Catrena’s sword; camera focuses on the sword and switches back to Le and Le is now looking at Alex] I was quite popular in my day and she hated it, so I got pushed out of the group – literally. Our play fights got more and more violent and more and more one sided, so I stopped playing.

Le walks over to Catrena with her hand on the hilt of her sword. Camera zooms out a little and pans across with her.

[Le]: But that was then. We’re all friends here so no u can’t hit her.

Camera switches to the side of them both, slightly looking up at them.

Camera switches as Le makes eye contact with Catrena and smirks. Then the camera pans down to the hilt of Le’s sword as she suddenly whips out the hilt and steers it into Catrena’s face, [camera flips to Catrena] making her step backwards and clutch her nose which is pouring of blood. Camera switches to behind Le. Whilst she is regaining her balance Le walks to Alex.

[Le]: [Just as Le walks out of the shot] Friends share.

Camera switches to Alex and Katie who are both stunned and look at each other and then back at Catrena.

[Le]: Come on lets go

Alex and Katie start to walk and then stop

[Lies by Evanescence starts to play quietly in the background getting louder until it reaches normal volume]

Camera switches to Catrena

[Catrena]: Get back here you bitch.

[Music reaches normal volume]

Catrena draws her sword as it starts to rain [camera switches to further away from Catrena] and runs over to Le, pulls her sword over her head and just as the music changes she lunges for Le’s head, [camera swings around to behind and above Catrena] but Le has her sword up to block her. The rain starts to really fall now.

Camera switches to above and away from the pair.

They circle each other as the music gets slower and strike on the beat [Camera moves in and slowly circles them]. Water flails everywhere as the downpour continues.

They continue to circle and attack throwing themselves at each other to the beat of the song playing in the background. Camera angles as above.

Until Catrena starts to back Le onto a pile of debris left from the bomb. [Close up on Le] Le, seeing no other means to escape, jumps backwards [switch to slow motion], music changes to softer and slower melody, but just before she can jump Catrena catches Le’s eye with the tip of her sword. [Camera switches to a panoramic of Le jumping and Catrena on the right-hand side watching] Le still carries on jumping backwards and goes into a backwards flip and lands as the music speeds up [switch out of slow motion]. [Camera switches to behind Le] As she lands she slides back slightly on the wet ground, whilst still keeping her right hand on the ground in front of her.

[Camera switches to in front of Le mainly on her face] Le lifts her head up and her right eye is closed and blood from it is running down her cheek and mixing with the rain.

Camera zooms out a swings a little to the left to fit Catrena in the frame

Catrena walks over to Le and grabs the collar on her shirt. Le looks up, a little dazed. [Camera goes close into Le’s face] Catrena whispers to Le.

[Catrena]: [Whispered] Bring any of this to where I live, and it won’t be an eye that you lose. You’re still way out of your league.

Camera switches to behind Le looking up at Catrena.

Catrena throws Le to the ground. [Music fades out] Camera switches to above Le as she rolls and writhes around on the floor with her hand over her eye. [Close up on Le’s eye] Blood seeps from in between her fingers and runs down her hand and arm. [Camera switches to far away from Le and Catrena] Catrena sheaths her sword and walks towards the camera with her gang behind her. Alex and Katie rush over to her and keel by her side.
