Okay, I have a tip for you, then (:
When you upload a scanned drawing onto the computer, separate the lines from the white (there are lots of lineart separation tutorials around DA) and then make a new layer underneath that to put the color in. That way you won't have the extra white in the image. Just thought you might find that useful for your next picture!

Thanks! I just sketched it with a pen, uploaded it to my computer, made it black and white, and used the paint bucket tool to fill it with colour! So...maybe about 3 and a half hours?
