Description well.. this is basically my first painting - ever. and it definitely shows (also the largest creation i've ever done - bigger than A2)
up till now i only did pencil and pastel drawings. somehow i think starting with the chinese style can't be exactly the easiest thing..
the rocks are weird.. and my hands were shaking when i painted the characters.. that unfortunately shows as well. they were totally steady while i was practicing but as soon as i switched to the real thing they decided to start dancing ..
but! i finished the thing, which is a wonder in itself! and it only took me 4 days to get the courage together to post it here

oh, i never took it as such but it turned out it was a commission too


the chinese characters are suppose to say "control your destiny"

I so love Japanese style lately I joined postcrossing.com - a website for postcards exchange and it turns out I'm learning Japanese, Chinese and Russian alphabets because postcards arrive much faster when written in native alphabet

the size of this was a challenge alright, i had problems where to put things
i drew a grid for the characters which helped a great deal

I would buy this. Vida, nice job! very creative thinking to do Chinese scroll type art, lots of interesting inspiration can come from a little research into these kind of art works, I hope you do another soon...

hope so! i've got plenty of ideas. and there's this series of old pencil sketches from years back that i wanna do in pastel and transfer to a bigger format. should really start working on that, the moment feels right. if i wait too long it'll pass

Yes, I have a masters degree in that! Oooohhh Vida, you gotta finish it!! That would totally put this brat in her place! I'm actually stuck working on a set of six drawings commissioned by a lady who wants me to do all of her grandchildren for her. I plan to do something of my own in between to break it up and keep me from getting bored. It's so hard to draw something that you're not passionate about but money is money The worst part to me is I can't post any of them on line So even though they're my best so far, I can't show them.
How are you doing? Still hot where you are? It cooled off here so I'm a happy camper again I just hope it lasts for a while.
