Description
Eva took a deep breath as the fire shot from the Deelagun’s mouth just nearly missed her, heating her up to an uncomfortable temperature. She was quick to regain her full balance, fighting on a roof required as much. She pulled an arrow out of her quiver and knocked her bow, drawing it back and shooting it at the Deelagun. The arrow deftly shot through the air, plunging into the Deelagun’s side. It seemed to barely even notice. As it turned to shoot flames at a gro who was pummeling it with rocks, Eva took the chance to slide over to her Coatala, who had been helping her the best he could. She straightened herself up, turning to look over at him. “Be careful Spice..” She muttered, getting a quiet coo in response. She checked him over, making sure he was fine before she skidded back, to a good distance and continued to shoot arrows at the Deelagun.
Eva shuffled with her quiver, almost empty with only a couple of arrows left. Seeing as the unfortunate circumstances, she probably wouldn’t be able to grab more either, and would just have to survive until she could get away. It made her very nervous the idea of being on a roof without any weapons, she had seen some gros die already, which put a right chill in her bones. She didn’t want to be next. She snapped out of her thoughts quickly, focusing back on the matter at hand. The deelagun was getting tired. It might run away soon if they didn’t kill it first, which might also cause some problems.
She turned to look back up at the Deelagun and realized it was looking right back at her. “Flick-” She mumbled under her breath. She hated the way it’s black eyes glistened and She huffed, pulling back her bow to shoot at it again. She fumbled with the arrow slightly, trying to fight her fear response which made her paws shaky. She shot, another arrow shooting through the air, at the end of the Deelagun’s tail this time around. It writhed like an angry worm, smacking the delicate crystalline branches. Eva scrambled up the roof, trying to avoid the gaze of the glowing orange eyes, fully expecting to get shot at again with the blazing flames. But instead, the Deelagun whipped it’s head around as another gro distracted it. She let out a pained sigh of relief, leaning against the roof, her stomach clenching with anxiety. Spice ran up to her, nudging her leg with his head. “I’m serious, there’s no time for fooling around, please, be careful.” She pushed him to the side and he stood back up, readying himself. She held her bow at the ready when there was a terrible sound of ripping and tearing flesh, and she looked up at the Deelagun, who’s arms seemingly had shrunk into its very own chest, and tore outwards into disgusting fleshy meaty wings, dripping with black blood. She had to stop herself from gagging as she was taken aback by just how visceral it was. “Oh, my chi.” She choked out, bracing herself against the roof. She shook her head and pulled back her bow, shooting the Deelagun right in the side, the arrow piercing it’s thick hide and causing it to flip around, before being pummeled on the other side. It was clearly getting desperate, it would have been empathetic if it wasn’t a creature of absolutely pure evil. It was attacking them, it deserved this. As it turned to burn a gro with searing red fire, Eva took her chance to shoot at it again, this time aiming for the eyes. She hit right under one of the large beady black eyes, black blood coating the arrow. She watched the Deelagun curl its meaty wings around as it turned, it’s movement almost frantic. It then turned it’s back to her and she assumed that it was looking at another gro. Then she saw one of its large blood covered tails and felt her stomach twist.
She dropped her bow, her fear gripping her tight like a deer in headlights, not willing to move even as the adrenaline pumped through her veins and every single thing in her body screamed at her to move or she would die. She felt as the spikes of the Deelagun’s tail dug straight into her flesh, splashing her face and body with blood. She was sliced right across the face and chest and knocked to the edge of the roof, the force of the large tail making her bones ache. She struggled to try and keep herself away from the edge but confused and blinded, she slid off the roof. She landed with a hard thud and a distinct cracking noise, her ribs crushing under the force of hitting the ground combined with them already being weakened by the hit. She couldn’t even muster making any noise, the shock was gripping her tight and her ears were ringing so loud she could barely hear anything. She could make out the desperate cries of Spice though, clearly fearful for her wellbeing. She took in a harsh gasp for air, trying to lift herself up despite the fact that her vision was entirely black, not to mention filled with blood. The pain shot through her veins like a bullet, and she fell back to the ground, feeling her body giving up as she lied there. She could feel her consciousness ebbing away and eventually gave in, letting everything fade away.
She shot back into consciousness as she held herself being lifted off the ground, coughing up blood as she tried to cry out in pain. “Jesus- I’m sorry.. shit- uh..” She couldn’t see who it was who was carrying her, but she recognized the voice. It was Pickles, her childhood friend. She hadn’t seen him in a while, but his nervous tone of voice made her feel safer. She couldn’t ignore the pain like lightning shooting through every inch of her body though, she just wanted to be free of it. Pickles was gentle not to touch any of her open wounds, trying his best to hold her on her back. He turned to look back at the fight, taking a deep breath and going off to try and find Doctor.F. He walked as fast as he could without accidentally hurting Eva more. “You’re gonna be fine, alright? Everything will be fine.” He muttered, shaking Eva back awake as she was about to drift off again. “I can’t-” She managed to spit out before the pain hit her again like a wave, and she went quiet again. “Jesus Christ, it got you go- nevermind. It’s fine!” He let out a forced wheeze which sounded like some sort of poor attempt to keep the mood light, despite everything.
--
They got to the barracks, rushing her over to a bed and flagging over Dr.F, who looked quite overwhelmed with weakened fighters. “She fell off a roof..!..” Pickles said plainly, he trying to keep his anxiety out of his voice, that much was clear. “Please- Please make sure she’s okay.” He said, before running off to help more people before he could get a response. Dr.F bandaged her wounds and left her to rest while he helped with the more urgent patients.
