Description A pair of dromaeosaurs court near the edge of a deep forest. Here again the plumage, especially on the male, was influenced by that of the hooded merganser, but I attempted to alter it enough so it wasn't an exact copycat.

I was inspired to draw these two after flipping through Matt Martyniuk's new book, A Field Guide to Mesozoic Birds and other Winged Dinosaurs, and seeing the illustrations of displaying caudipteryx. [link]

I see this as plausible for troodontids and the like but for dromaeosaurs?

Too conspicuous to prey animals

I don't imagine them running around with their flashy crests on display all the time.

The black and white feathers on the male's head kinda remind me of a hooded merganser.

It's a little flat but at the same time, I like the style.

I don't mind the flat scene; it looks like folk art. And folk art + dinosaurs = win.

Cute scene and nice Deinonychus, but the scenery looks kinda flat.

Yeah I agree about the flatness, I tried to show slight differences in elevation among the forest floor by different shades of brown and green in the spotting texture, but it doesn't seem to be enough as is. Do you think adding more ferns and larger objects around the mid-bottom section of the image would have helped?

Thanks for the feedback.

I think the stony plateau is the most irritating object. It's distracting and pronounces the flatness of the rest of the floor.
Probably bigger plants in the foreground (partially overlapping the Dinosaurs and other objects) would have added some depth.
And about the plateau, I think trees, bushes and plants in different levels instead would've helped as well.
But as I said, I like it nevertheless.
