Wish we had more of these guys in my region. I love watching the common mergansers that stay throughout the year, but hoodies only seem to pass through when heading for their nesting areas.

I really want to get more photos of the common mergansers, but they're more skittish here than these guys. Especially the drakes, for some reason.

I haven't gotten any photos of our mergansers because I usually only get within range for such things while kayaking... and I won't take my camera in a kayak.
