Nate and I spotted this young harbor seal in Nobleboro today, by Oyster Creek. Rather unusual visitor to Great Salt Bay, which, while salty, is kind of far inland for a marine mammal like this. This animal looked healthy, but actually let us get pretty close, around 20 feet away. He called the Marine Mammals of Maine hotline, and they sent someone over to take a look. The conclusion was that this is a healthy young seal who was just relaxing on shore, and no intervention was needed.
