Description This is another piece from 2006 (technically) that I decided to finish. I liked how the head came out on the original, but the body was positively atrocious, so I ended up tracing the head and slapping it on a different body. I think the neck might be too long, though.

I think this guy was supposed to be T-Rex, though I think he looks more like T. Torosus.

I think the detail work on the scales is commendable and the execution seems to be very well done.

Fantastic detail on the scales as always! Adding some shading and highlights would look amazing.

Usually I think of theropod dinosaurs as more "bird-and-mammal-like", but in this case I like the reptilian look of its skin. It reminds me of the old Ray Harryhausen dinosaur movies like 'One Million Years B.C.' or 'The Valley Of Gwangi'. So it's cool!
And yes, it looks like a Daspletosaurus torosus, but that isn't bad. At all.

Er, yeah, I mean Daspletosaurus. The book I used as a reference was slightly out of date.

I like the way you drew all the tiny scutes. It looks kind of like a mosaic or something.

As for advanced critique, though, his back seems a little flat-looking. If the light is coming from the left side of the picture, as seems to be the case from the shading on his head and neck, then the shadow would extend further up the right side of his body. The ridge of his spine would probably cast a shadow on the right side of his body also.

By the way, what medium did you use for this?

Thanks.

I inked it with a micron pen and colored it with prisma markers, as usual.
