Description
One of my new years resolutions was to do more comics. I tried to finish this before we got “the answer” of how Ruby and Sapphire actually met, but I was short in time. I wanted to do my version regardless ( don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved the canon one). I’ve got 9 pages of this, which is short, and raises more questions than answers but, who knows? It was supposed to be more of an introduction to an idea than the idea perse.more soon!

I believe most of people don't, that's how sad Sapphire's life must have been in these AU.

Oh my God.
This is actually my favorite page so far. And I suppose, by extension, I have high hopes for this comic....
This scene is really effective. The fact that Sapphire's going through dozens of Topazs and writing the majority off as near-future casualties just strikes a special chord with me. It's pretty heavy stuff, ha ha.
Looking forward to seeing more than four pages, ha ha.
Thumbs up.

oh! it has 9 pages! (only... well at least for now)
I'm not a professional comic artist and there's a lot that I need to learn, but I'll try to not have you disappointed(?)
the tone's not all serious but sometimes get because they are at war, so things tend to get real.
I'm glad that you liked that!
thank you!

Whoops. Better go back and check, ha ha...!
But, yeah. Playing things "serious" doesn't have to be super angsty and pretentious or anything. This, to me, seemed like a more subtle touch, and I kind of appreciate it even more for that, ha ha.
But yeah. I gotta go find the rest of the pages now!

Strategy.
this is an AU of what I thought before watching “the answer”, so I had my own way of thinking how Sapphire’s future vision works. For me, she can see the future in a large scale, and the multiple outcomes it has. She works with probability and through the years, she got more keen in discovering which path it’s bound to be the next.
She can see the streams of future by looking at someone, like probability visions. So the most unlikely ones she ignores and the strong ones (usually the ones which repeats more) she tries to make a sense of it. Here, she knows they have a high chance to shatter in battle, and recognize that there are many ways of this to happen, so she doesn’t say which ones could be because it depends on the choices they would make. But there’s even a low probability of survival, so it would be more of her saying “hey, you have a 95% chance to shatter tomorrow”.
how telling your soldiers, they have a high chance to die could be considered a good strategy? it depends on what their deaths means to them and to their culture, and what this little chance of returning in glory could also mean.
