I love the textures and colors in this shot. It's a perfect example of how a great shot can be right under our feet.

While ~saintminion is a little blunt, he does have a point. I've found the Isla Mujeres series to be a little bland. And while there is something to be said for the ability to find beauty in every day settings, there is something lacking from these pictures. The fact that you're an amazing photographer still shows (and that's not flattery, just my opinion); there is nothing wrong with the pictures physically, however, they do lack something aesthetically. As ~saintminion points out, these photos don't stir emotions, as unfortunate as that is.

Well, the truth of the matter is that I'm kind of bored with taking overtly "beautiful" photographs...right now I'm much more interested in exploring subtle aesthetics and more abstract themes. As far as evoking emotions, that's rarely my objective with photos. I knew this series is not the kind of thing that is popular on DA, but actually it's been received well from those who've seen it hanging at my gallery. And I'd probably say that right now, this series is what I like most of out my recent work.
Anyways, everyone has their own personal preferences, and that's just fine. The point of art is not to make something that everyone will find likable. Everyone has their own opinions, and I will never discourage that

the whole series is great but this piece in particular is absolutely stunning!

This is what I like in quality photography: it's simple but the colors are great, the lines interesting, the composition perfect... This is why I'm happy to watch you my friend...
