Connected Lore
There's been some strange happenings in the land of Skire since the two guardians finally spoke truth to one another, especially having Nothing take their crook form again. An alliance was formed between the two guardians in an experiment imagined by them both. Nothing questioned their power together, wondering if Everything could withhold Nothing's form from them, perhaps the mortal species to cross these boundaries too. It's already known the mutations occur within their kind and splices were possible despite their rarities. Perhaps there would be ways to break that boundary and continue forward? Or perhaps there were methods the species could encounter would never suffice to that of a Creator or Guardian's ability? Nevertheless, their curiosity was piqued as equally as their paranoia. If mortals could cross the boundaries of their species, would they soon blind themselves to the watchful eyes of their guardians?
Both guardians devised a plan to take on a mortal apprentice. This wasn't unheard of for them to do as per the history with mentors and others of the species who were given their gifts, though it was a new thing for Nothing to take on a crook apprentice. However this was a unique situation. Gifts were not given and bargains were not held between the mortals and their powerful guardians. Each apprentice would simply be given the task and and a promise, then kept up with routine checks by the guardians upon their findings. Neither guardian wished to give aid to the species finding a means of rewriting their magic because this test was supposed to find out if it were even possible for them to do so on their own. However, this promise was more akin to an unreliable lie.
"If you find a way to become one of the other species then we will ensure your safety and power be kept and bolstered, as you will become legends to your kinds for aiding us and your species."
With this, they dawned their uniforms and aimed to bring an answer to the guardian's curiosities.

While originally the intent was for the apprentices to work together, the terms of their alliance were never made clear and struck feud between the two as they clung to their stubborn methods of their own to find answers...

Amalgamation
This little CCCat was a clever and determined individual, they were noted by many as a wandering problem-solver. Though, admittedly, their idea of problems were usually strange and things people had not necessarily needed. Their method of craft was revolving around potions, as they could not personally be bothered to focus into an element of magic. They loved their craft and loved the strange types of aid they could bring, as much as the oddities they could cause with a mishap. If anything, it was another problem to solve! Their potions could help with health, hunger, power, utility, to as strange of a request as keeping one's shirt forever stain-free. The potion-maker's joy of puzzles brought on by life was practically palpable within their personality. It was no wonder the guardian's chose them to aid in such a beguiling issue as seeing if CCCats could become Crooks. They took on the challenge with vigor and curiosity, aiming to find a way for their potions to be the elixir that would bring them a new form. Their studio often an array of recipes and notes to themselves, a whirlwind of disorderly organization true to this CCCat's being. They would get hard to work with this newly granted puzzle to solve.

When given the opportunity to work along side their Crook workmate, they originally saw a greater opportunity both in the likelihood of success of their puzzle as well as the chance to share interest in their desire to solve the task. They would work together for some time, truly becoming friends and working even for some time together to aid in people's matters of struggle where they could. The two became known as gift-givers due to their kindness and trade of help for simple knowledge.

This didn't last forever, though. The CCCat guardian would check on their apprentice often, quite regularly requesting if not demanding more answers be found and their side work be left behind. No matter the CCCat's efforts of explanation for the reason of their trade and how they were learning more ways to potentially expand their ability to find an answer, the guardian would not listen. Aiding others was not the task, it was to aid the guardian's find an answer. The pressure of a guardian's request was similar to a force of nature, and so the CCCat complied remorsefully.

They became more and more solemn and studious as time went on, aiming to find some kind of mixture, ANY kind of mixture that would alter one's shape and form. Working on a wormling's host was impossible to know the effects of; no host was woven the exact same way. So they focused on working to match mixture to their personal host. Their partner grew into a similar state, lamenting a potion would not be the answer to give new shape to a creature, but the CCCat would not listen.
Eventually the two broke off their ties, and the CCCat aimed to work alone, now hoping to show their guardian and their old workmate how they could solve even this grand problem alone, reaping the benefits of the guardian's promise for themselves when it was over.

The day came where the CCCat was most confident with it's mixture after many long unhelpful failures. However, they would find out this potion was not the solution. Their body grew and transformed, but it was not as intended. The CCCat took on an element matching more similarly to the potion's mixture and their eye would feel the effects of this magic and their body's new magic. It would form into them as intended, but it did not break their CCCat shape. Instead, they only progressed far enough to give themselves a crook mutation, ultimately ending in failure. This form was unlocked for them, but the guardian did not reward them. In fact, they believed their new form was too unpleasant for a guardian to ever see, as they never returned after this failure.

Uprooted
This Crook was a hard-working individual, yet gentle in their ways and voice. They had an ability to create ease wherever they went, aiming to quell any conflict or struggle they encountered within the hearts of those around them. They enjoyed the world around them most when it was at peace, flowing and living in a harmonious synergy with one another. They carried with them a long staff with a carved hand-like end that would allow them to cast magic they did not normally have. The magic matched their heart and was gentle and helpful, and they would claim it was because the tree it came from was their friend. They claimed they would go around the lands with the remnant of their friend to provide wishes to those who needed them most. Seeking out pure-hearted individuals to further spread this kindness as that was their own wish. They were someone who knew the power of giving people kindness and hope to look forward to the following day with, and they did so with eagerness. For this reason, they believed the guardian chose them for their strange request of finding out if a Crook could become a CCCat by mortal means. Their methods were organized and quaint, often aiming for whatever could bring an answer forth using the magic around them. They carried with them the tools and stories of their adventures, keeping a quiet calmness to their demeanor, always seeming to have a reliable solution to the wishes requested by others.

When given the opportunity to work along side their CCCat workmate, they felt sure that the two of them could create some way to grant the wish of the guardians. They would work together for some time, truly becoming friends and working even for some time together to aid in people's matters of struggle where they could. The two became known as gift-givers due to their kindness and trade of help for simple knowledge.

But this didn't last forever. The Crook guardian came often, speaking to the crook of their progress and headway towards the solution. Questioning the capabilities of the crook and the doubts of their ability to bring forth the result the guardian wanted most. The doubts of the guardian were like parasitic seeds within the crook's mind, creating doubt within their own potential when they had never experienced such before. The guardian could take aim at the crook with scornful eyes and readily pick someone new if they could not present their abilities to the guardian. Worse yet, the guardian could easily cast the crook away without much issue or any remnant of themselves like the staff they carried with them. The crook had to find a way to grant the complex wish in any way it could.

They became somber, a sense of dread now occupying their once calm aura. They had to find a way to harness the proper magic, believing their staff the key as it was for all their other matters. Surely something was present in the world around them that would be able to be grabbed and harnessed by the staff, much like it has done before. Altering the shape and form of oneself was a new challenge, though. The staff had been used to bring wonders and create a calming air, yet now it felt like it was being used to reach into the depths of magic never once touched before. It was impossible to know how this would pan out for the crook, but it was determined it would find the answer. The CCCat often would complain of the crook's methods, saying the world's magic on its own could not grant them something which would break the natural form they were given, but the crook disagreed.
Eventually the two broke off their ties, and the crook aimed to work alone, now hoping to show their guardian and their old workmate how they would grant the guardian's immense wish, reaping the benefits of the guardian's promise for themselves when it was over.

The day came where the crook found a spell, a rhythm even in the magic that surrounded the world. After many long failures and attempts of surfacing a magic hidden deep in the weave of the world, it seemed as though they had found the string to pluck using the staff's gentle claw. However, when this chord was plucked, it was more fragile than the crook could've ever realized. The weave within itself tore and wove into a new shape, granting them a new form as intended, but not the form they were aiming to achieve. Their body became massive, their staff which was the instrument of their magic fusing to them through the world's magic. Their eyes fused and reformed back into a singular, external sphere where it contained their essence. They acquired a CCCat mutation, but not form. The form was unlocked for them, but their guardian never had their wish granted proper, and no reward came. In fact, the guardian never came back. The crook believed it was because they had misused the world's magic in a cursed, unforgiving way.
