this picture is very good. rich colors and great focus. the contrast in this picture is very good and rich, everything is well composed in this. the only thing i see wrong is the two dark trees right in the center.

Do mountains dominate the horizon anywhere you are in NZ I wonder? 'cos it seems like there's always mountains in the distance in any NZ pics I see.

In the south island at least it does. It has a very important range of mountains called the Southern Alps that run all the way across from north to south of the island and you can pretty much see them from all points. I live in Chirstchurch and it only takes you about 1 hour to get to the S.Alps plus we have our own hills as well by the coast in Banks Peninsula. So, yes, I would say mountains definitely dominate the scenary here.

It must be great to live in such a place. I live in a tropical country, outside the urban areas there's only jungles or oil palm plantations everywhere you go. I mean, it has it fine points and in most places it's quite hilly but what I really long for are mountains such as those you have in NZ. Or the Alps in Europe.

Oh, yes, it is a very nice place to live, you have the ocean and right away the mountains. I am from Argentina, from a city in the south of the Andes, and it takes over 8 hs of travelling to see the ocean. So here I get to have both things together, it's beautiful.
Though sometimes I think I'd love to live in a tropical country! It can get quite cold (in both places)
