This got crazier than the Earth boss, and this piece pretty much made me realize that I was going overboard with detail, in a bad way.And so one of this year's resolutions is to keep the details organized @__@

ManI hope I don't look stupid giving YOU suggestions on whats good and how to fix shit...but I know sometimes the third person perspective can help alot...I dont even think you have too much detail here...I think that's the best part of your pieces - the amazing detail and self-made textures that you put in...I think the problem here is that when I look at it, my eyes get lost in the COLOR...since its pretty much all in the same color area of fire, at first glance I just see fire. I think if you incorporated some heavy areas of black or charcoal(like the volcanic rock setting) to better suggest the figure this piece would be perfect. As always, wicked man...wicked.

Maybe my eyes are just good at matrixing, maybe I'm just a bit more imaginative but it took no time at all to distinguish its form and figure, the fine details... I can understand if you, personally, find that you're putting too much into this... but all things considered, it's a being of flame... I find that, in this case at least, all that detail, all the 'frills' are perfect.

it is a good picture, but you're right, the detail is far too involved. it took me a good 10+ seconds just to find the head, let alone the details I didn't expect to see: the chain, the individual claws and toes.

Overall it's a good picture. Too bad there's too many flickers of fire, people will have a bit of difficulty making out the monster's body form.
Also, a little advice, Draw something that can help us get the idea of the creature's size. A comparison. Like, for example, if this guy is HUGE, draw a small person looking helplessly at the big boss. Just a thought.

If I met this one in real, it would so scare the shit out of me. I guess it's no new praise for you when I say your amount of small details is beyond everything I've ever seen before.
But I guess he could have been "cooler" (or hotter!) if you chose a different pose that fits the character better. This way it kind of looks a bit like an advanced concept sheet. So something more of a battle pose maybe.
In addition, the background is somehow disturbing me. It doesn't support the might of the creature the slightest, it's like you said "here is a ground, a somewhat fire-like ground, a bit of lava and rock, something like that and in the background you get... uhmmpfff... something hot... red green dark foggy thingie thing. o_o"
And I don't know whether this kind of pink is really the best for a fierce boss. But that's just my opinion.

I have to agree that the character kind of gets lost here :/ Like you said, the detail is a little overboard and kinds scrammbles the picture up. Fire is hard to work with sometimes though. Despite these problems though, you did an amazing job with what you did do

What's funky is that it's obviously not mirrored, but that's something you could've considered doing since I think very few people are going to appreciate every single line you put in there. The tie-dye of colors make it even more harder to track every single detail, so everyone looking just kind of gives up and rubs their eyes. @_@

You are truly gifted for being able to draw all that detail, and then color it. And I think the job is blow people away, but not have them burn up from the eyes out, either. xP

I think that is is ok for a fire elemental to be complicated, because fire is pretty complicating to draw. It really embodies flames very well! Awesome!

I sometimes wonder if too much detail is a bad thing- from a clasically trained perspective it makes sense, but I think you manage to keep a focal point- which makes the detail more inviting than not. But great work either way
