I've heard of this kind of creature before, but had forgotten the name. I really like the lily-of-the-valley and how her hair seems to match its foliage.

Interesting tail... certainly had to trace it for a bit
I could imagine a darker version luring people closer.

one thing, huldra is nordic and is not a spirit, it's a troll, a myth made up for the children not to wander into the woods, they are ugly bastards that eat you

The huldra is a stunningly beautiful, sometimes naked woman with long hair; though from behind she is hollow like an old tree trunk, and has an animal's tail. In Norway, she has a cow's tail, and in Sweden she may have that of a cow or a fox.
In Norway, the huldra has often been described as a typical dairymaid, wearing the clothes of a regular farm girl, although somewhat more dazzling than most girls.

Lily of the valley
you render plants very meticulously and I appreciate that. I could almost reach out and touch them. And I love how her hair is almost indistinguishable from the leaves.

So beautiful! It's always interesting to see how people interpret mythical "beasts". I've never heard of huldras as being related to music/singing though...where did you get the info? I love reading up on monsters.
Her ring is a very nice detail, and that tail is just gorgeous! It would be fun to see it unwrapped.

Interesting like your thornlion. Creative and shows emotion on how she's positioned herself with her instrument. It's really well done. Have you ever tried having these ideas of yours a part of a storyline of your own idea as well? Just an idea is all I have.

Hi, just thought I might correct you about huldras, not to be a besserwisser but I myself always like information.
I live were huldras are told about, also called vittras.
They are not spirits, but mortal ppl living in another dimension of reality, also called "the invisibles" old folktales say that they use human farms during winter when the humans have moved south from the mountains.
Its very bad to build ones house on one of their trails, even if it invisible in our reality since the huldras cattle wont se the human house and then walk right through it.
I have a thing for scandinavian folkmyths

Huldra is norwegian, so I can tell you this:
She is a beautiful kind of woman that lives in the forest. If she sees a man, she tricks him and makes him follow her into the forest. She is recognisable by the tail.
Someone claims that she is the first wife of Adam, but that she and her kids were sent away (or something like that).

There are lots of different stories about her, but the one I heard was that she was Adam's first wife. But she was too sly and seductive for him, so Satan took her as his wife instead. o.o Creepy, eh? xD Here's the Wiki article, it has lots of other stories: [link]

Yes, I've heard that she was Adam's first wife, too, but when God asked to see her children, she only showed him the pretty ones, and so he sent her away... Or something like thatxD There's probably lots of stories about her:]

yo Wen(M)!
it's me, Jackie! that is, if you remember :/
In chinese culture, my mother once talked of a scary mermaid chinese creature that lived in the sea. They weren't half-fish or anything, just like a super sexy naked (i think) woman in the water that lived with the fishes. Except they end up eating men who walk too close

Actually, if you ever have any questions and can't find the answers in the core books, feel free to ask it on the 1d20 page. I'm a walking encyclopedia, and there's a few otheres there that are too. Have fun; play hard!

I've been wondering just a small silly question but who do you think is the most powerful character in D&D is it Elminster or perhaps The Simbul? not including deities

eiries In reply to JimField [2007-05-05 02:10:39 +0000 UTC]
It's impossible to say because you can create any combination of characters at your whim. I could cook up a level 35 character that could wipe the D&D pantheon all over the planes. So I couldn't really tell you. Heh.

I think... I might be wrong cuz I only heard it in a story once, but the water brother counterpart is called a nix? Might want to look it up.
Other than that. Lovely as always. You should try turning this one into a tatoo. XD
