I would love a print, so I'll keep an eye out. I think it's perfect just the way it is. Β

Well, technically Gorgons are of Greek Mythology. Mami Wata is being from Southern African folklore.

Foo dog is a misinterpreted American translation, they are called foo dragons in the land they hail fromΒ

I don't think it's a "translation" issue as much as an interpretation issue... we see the animal and it looks like a dog, so we call it a foo dog... they see the animal and it looks like a dragon so they call it a foo dragon. We're talking about the same animal, we just see it differently...
Plus there's also the idea (which I've not confirmed, so if you have more info, please feel free to correct me) that the native word for DRAGON is more like a word for "guardian spirit" since they didn't think of dragons as physical creatures so much as spiritual ones... thus when westerners think of guardians we automatically associate dogs (and when we see foo "dog" statues outside ceremonial sites it reinforces that) since dogs have protected our homes and lands since before we HAD homes and lands...Β
In either case... that's not one

yeah and if i angered you it was not my intention, it's just when i hear foo dog it irks me, and i tried not to mention it, but like i said it irks me. I guess it's just a lack of spiritual insight that is being perpetuated.

not at all, I'm all for learning more about the spiritual beliefs of (specifically ancient) other cultures and the various mythological creatures inhabiting them.
please feel free to correct my information any time you see that it needs correcting, I approve whole heartedly.

Isn't there folklore about her brushing her hair also?

She probably left her brush behind then because her weave looks pretty well groomed
