However, I do not draw them directly from their descriptions. I am using their myth as inspiration to design a modern character. Very often you might not see any link at all
, my mind travels far from the original idea sometimes.

Well, Hel was all human in appearence, just half of her body was a rotting corpse.
The reason that Loki's children were never really human, is because he was a shape-shifter. He shifted into a female horse and bore Slepnir, male wolf and fathered Fenrir, and also fathered Jormugand.
Loki is often thought as the provider, it's because of him Odin had Slepnir and Gungnir, Thor had Mjollnir, and Loki also invented the fishing net when trying to capture Otter.
